Hey guys-
anyone know how to power off the outlet when the car is not on?
I plugged in my V1 radar detector in the center console but the unit stays on even when the car is turned off.
I could always just pull the power plug but am afraid that one of these days I will forget and drain the battery.
I guess the best option is to hard wire it into the fuse box- anyone know how to do that?

I was advised by my service rep that to keep the power on when car turned off (for Cigarette Lighter socket only) they can do a software upgrade that takes about 30 minutes.

 

Incorrect. The plug shuts off after about 10 minutes.

But it certainly would be smart to hardwire it. And neater.

 

The plug turns off after 10 minutes which is why a battery tender will not work that way. As John 996 said, you can take it in to get a reprogram done if you want to use a battery tender on it.
