Default Anyone NOT doing a clear bra?

I've got a few weeks before my Macan is due to arrive, so I'm thinking about post-delivery addons like a hardwired radar detector, clear bra, etc.

Both my Boxster and my 911 have a full clear bra on the front, mirrors, etc., including fully covering the hood. Well, my Boxster had one, I just had it removed because it did its job for the last few years and absorbed a lot of abuse.

Anyway, I'm leaning towards not putting one on my Macan because I don't think it's as necessary. The car rides much higher than the Boxster or 911, and doesn't have a fender and hood shape that would tend to funnel stones and rocks to that huge expanse of chippable paint. If anything I'm more interested in fabricating a grill to protect the radiators.

I want my cars to last and look nice, but I'm not into keeping them concourse competition clean. With my luck, no matter how well I drive, sooner or later someone will scrape the "new" off my car and I'll have to respray at least one panel so I'm not obsessing over virgin paint if I redo my hood or bumper in a few years. Anyone else thinking similarly? Pros? Cons?

I only clear bra my two 911s. Never with sedans or SUVs as I don't think is necessary.

I'm not a fan of the look, didn't add it on mine.

I'm probably not going to. I did go ahead and protect the headlights though. For some reason pitted headlights bother me.

None for me. My previous 911 cab had a few minor chips in the hood over 8 years, but it never bothered me. I view clear bra like putting covers on a new couch.

Same. Never did the clear film on anything yet.

This will sound way out there but there is something about the way the Porsche paint fatigues that I really appreciate. Just a personal choice, I would pass.

My Macan is leased. So no bra.
Realistically it is never going to be a classic. It will end up at a dismantler or crusher in 20 years.
No sence in saving a suv so keep your money.

It depends on the road conditions, here in Houston the freeways are terrible and the front end of my previous cars look like swiss cheese. The Macan may not be a classic but I hate the look of paint chips thus I went for the partial clear bra (XPEL). Time will tell if it worth it or not, but after only 2,500 miles I am already seeing several places where it saved the paint at the cost of minor scuffs on the film.

Well if I keep mine for 20 years, it would have like I don't know, 500,000 miles on it. Do diesels last that long? Paint chipped and fatigued, it'll look like something. Will they even make the Macan still then? Will it be a vestige like a 928? Or something that endures?

I have to admit that the enthusiasm that the Macan has garnered does make me wonder. Does it stick?

I'm such a fan of the brand. Something romantic about it. I hope it sticks, mostly I think because I like the idea of us witnessing the inception, if it does.

Put mine on at delivery. Also have the bra on my Cayenne S. Even though the vehicles sit higher, there are too many construction vehicles on the highway that are always throwing out rocks. The junk bounces high at highway speeds. I put a lot of miles on cars and the Macan is now the daily so I wouldn't consider bra-less. The Cayenne bra has taken a lot of hits and the underlying paint is still spotless. The Macan bra is not a full hood but covers just to the top of the headlights, the full front, mirrors, and I always cover the door sills.

We went with no clear film on our Cayenne.
After 130,000 km the only paint chip is on the driver's door - rock flew over from oncoming traffic on the highway.
One nasty hit on the bumper, but it would have penetrated the film regardless.

Never liked the lines on the panels created by the end of the film.

I think it's silly. Like encasing a new sofa in plastic.

no clear bra for me. I'll OptiCoat the vehicle after it arrives from my Euro Delivery. I told the salesguy don't touch the vehicle other than pulling off any shipping plastic.
I'll IronX it, clay it, ultra fine machine polish it, then OptiCoat it. It's all about preparing the paint for the OC (have now had 3 vehicles OC'd, silver Ranger Rover Evoque, carbon black Mini Cooper, and silver Focus ST, nothing is as good)

No, OC doesn't stop rock chips but I'm not going to clear bra a daily driver
