Can someone walk me through the Audio and Communication options and the packages. I think I need a refresh on decision sciences to parse this one. Maybe simplify it for me. What are must have features. Cost/benefit. What's just plain stupid to leave out.
Or if this discussion has already taken place, just direct me to it.
CDR Plus is standard but I ordered the Infotainment Package, it contains Navigation (I prefer the build in screen to the iPhone), Sirius/XM, HD Radio and Online Services, the package price costs less than Navigation alone, go figure...
I did not get Bose, ever since I wasted money on some Bose cubes 14 years ago I vouched never to buy a Bose product ever again . IMHO the CDR Plus with 235W is good enough, it is a Porsche and I would rather listen to the engine .
I opted for the Bose with Sirius because the drive from vancouver to whister is about 2 hours and rockin' out kills the time.
I passed on Bermester as it was just out to lunch in price for what it will do over the Bose...
I would like to think the Base CDR system is decent considering Porsche is a luxury brand, but i didnt want to take the chance when Iron Maiden is playin in my ride.
I have an Audi A6 with the Bose and a 2014 Cayman with the base cdr. The cdr has much better sound than the Audi.
Bose is crap in every car... My Boxster has the best Bose system I've ever heard and it's still crap. That's why I chose the Bang & Olufsen in my A6 Avant. Sounds realy, really nice!
On many cars with so called "Bose" systems, the only item Bose provides is the surround sound chip. The car company pays Bose for the right to say they have a "Bose" system in the car and thus justify a hefty premium. Most 911 owners know that the Bose system in their cars is pretty lame. I'm pretty sure I'll opt for the CDR+ when I order a Macan. But I hope to hear them all first so I can be sure.
