The Germans surely get upset if you said "porsh" instead of "porsha", but then they go and mispronounce Macan... but its ok, because hey, they are German and we will all do as we are told.

ironically, my mother is German, Dad is Indonesian... you see how I need this car in my life?

So true and so "porsch"
Porsche knew they mispronounced, they have been warned with one of their Indonesian born lady staff in Leipzig, but still Ma"kh"an is how they want to pronounce it.

OK, I registered just to reply to this...

Porsche named the Macan after the Javanese word or tiger. If that's the case, then everyone is mispronouncing it. The Javanese pronunciation is "Mah-Chan." In most Indonesian dialects, a "C" is pronounced "Ch."

on the other forum, several months ago (years?) someone came up with the definitive pronunciation for Macan,
as it's uttered where the word originates and it goes something like:

mah-tchan

Also, it's meaning is leopard rather than tiger.

jes' sayin'

Eh, you may be right on the definitive pronunciation according to Porsche, but you are 100% wrong about its meaning. Having an Indonesian wife, myself speaking Indonesian, and having spent several years there, I know macan means "tiger," not leopard (just sayin'). Leopard is similar, but a little different. It is macan tutul.

Also, there is this blurb from Porsche itself:

"Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart’s new sports car in the SUV segment has been given the name Macan. The name Macan is derived from the Indonesian word for tiger and combines suppleness, power, fascination and dynamics – core characteristics of the new off-road car."

Regardless of what Porsche says, it is pronounced "Mah-Chan" in Indonesian. But, whatever.
