Thanks for the pics. Definitely my next daily driver! I had a Cayenne and loved it. Don't need a full sized SUV anymore and the Macan will fit under my lift

Well in China and other Asia location (excluding Aust. & Japan) that isn't the case, they think Porsche = SUV.

I think I'd much prefer the new Audi SQ5. Same performance without the Porsche brand premium. I also think the Audi looks better

Funny how I was chatting up a woman in the Porsche "lounge" there at the show, and the Macan is where Porsche starts and stops for her. And her dad has a Cayenne, 997 Turbo, and I think a 997 GT3.

Rinse and repeat about the vanity object market from 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987.......1995, 1996, 1997.......etc. (And those are just the years where I was in the business dealing with initial purchasers of those cars. From everything I've been able to glean from the older guys, pretty much the same from the earliest days. ESPECIALLY in context for mid-'60s 911 buyer.)

PDKs are automatics? Where's the torque converter???

Again, and this is coming from Daniel, he thinks the Macan is way, way, way beyond the others in the market. Blowing smoke? I have no idea. But we were fairly deep in a sports car conversation at that point, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Does it change gears for you?

At your pleasure. (Which, I get is the "same" as a conventional torque converter equipped automatic--you don't HAVE to put those in "D". Where I was going with this was the gear decoupling of the PDK/cousins v. the other automatics.)

And I'm not going to discuss further in this thread.

As someone who has lost interest in th LA show for years now, I had just come back from it. Given the absolute plethora of SUVs, large, small, medium, and "crossover" types, who the heck isn't making one ...or several?!!! Porsche is clearly jumping onto a market segment that shows no signs of slowing that I can tell.

FWIW, I think it's a good looker. This from a guy who hates the Panamerica (can they add any more %$@! console switches)? and Cayenne, but am no "purist" as I love the Cayman ...and the new Boxter certainly is nicer than its predecessors, IMHO.

The hood ...interesting on first look. Then 2.418 seconds later these headlight cutouts made me think: dang, that's just gotta add cost! WTFruit for? Seemed pointless to me except to say that they could??

OT Sidenote: Toyota NHRA Funny Car: 8000HP, pulls 5Gs, 300mph in 1/4 mile. Ummmm, wow!

I thought the same until today somebody shed light on the subject that it is Q5 shared.
The Tiguan supposedly is more Jetta and not shared as much as we thought with Q5.

No it doesn't. The S model is priced the same as the base Cayenne. The base Macan will be less. A moderately loaded S version is starting to look like a good deal to me as a daily driver.
