We just got a 2020 base of under 14,000 miles with some limited options. I was slightly skeptical coming from a turbo Cayenne. The 14-way seats are great and the LED lights are amazing. I don’t even miss the power and the ride is nearly as good. More maneuverable and got far better mileage (just in time) for our return trip bringing it home.
i loved the Cayenne but I don’t find the Macan a downgrade.

Agree, I think the base gets a bad rap. It's a great DD and the price of entry, especially for a CPO/ex-loaner car, makes it much more affordable. If I didn't have a 911 in the garage, I'd likely want a V6, but I'm under warranty until 2030 and may keep the base until then.
The Macan is not a downgrade, it just doesn’t have the same off road capabilities or space. But it does handle better since it weighs less and still has lots of tire under it. We have both and I love driving both for different reasons. I had the Macan in the canyons yesterday driving back from AZ and was shocked at how well it handles a hard turn without leaning or feeling forced.
