Default How much PPF did you do?

For those who went with PPF…how much of your Macan did you do and are you happy with the choice?

I did full body on my 911 and feel that it might have been overkill. My Macan will be a 4 season daily where we have snow. Considering full front PPF at this point.

On the 911, did front to the WS, +mirrors and fenders.
Now if a new Porsche, would do ceramic only as on the Macan.

I did the full vehicle on my 992.2 S. I'm leaning toward forgoing PPF on the Macan and simply doing ceramic. I could do a full PPF again but it doesn't seem worth it to me personally; it would also be my four season vehicle.

I think you're right to consider front/partial at this point. I'd simply rather put the resources to other things; new golf clubs, travel...a GT3!

+1 to both. I did front PPF on my Boxster and ceramic the rest, due to black paint and thoughts of protecting chips on an older car. Although only slightly noticeable, water beads differently off the PPF versus the ceramic after washing, with the ceramic being easier to dry. I went back and forth on the Macan, researched quite a bit, and went straight ceramic on it. I truly feel that was the right choice, especially with a Carmine Red exterior and past experience of seeing dirt lines on a lighter car with PPF. I preferred the uniform look of the ceramic coat versus cut lines, no matter how well hidden, on PPF.

911: Full PPF and windshield film. Purchased new and has lightweight glass.

Macan: Purchased CPO, 6 months old. PPF on front bumper, full hood and fenders, and rear loading area (top of bumper). I also did windshield film. Ceramic (DIY) on the rest of vehicle.

I had PPF put on my entire Macan. I drive it daily and love the added protection.

I had the entire front of the Macan PPF, also wrapping over the top of the windshield about 3 inches. Side view mirrors were also done. It was recommended to not do the headlights, I had just had them refurbished. Cost was $2,200

I did the front (bumper, hood, fenders) plus the mirrors but not the headlights which the shop advised against doing. Very pleased with it.

I think it depends on where you live. In LA there is a ton of debris everywhere. On the GTS hood, mirrors, door edges and rear bumper. On the 3RS full PPF and windshield.

I generally do the whole front end on all my cars from windshield forward. I also usually do mirror caps and the rear load area.

As for ceramic - up until my current two cars I always did my own paint care. Just getting too old (lazy?) to do that now so I did ceramic on both cars when new. I must say it really does last. I just do a quarterly spray on boost and my 21 Macan looks as good as new.

People seem to think that ceramic is some sort of an alternative to PPF - It is not! You can ceramic coat your call all day long and will still get paint chips & etc.

When Macan comes in, it will go for full front + rockers + windshield PPF. We also ordered the car with gloss black accents and those all will get wrapped too just for ease of maintenance. I will also get the B pillars PPFed. This is not specific to Macan, all the cars on the fleet are protected the same way.

I did PPF on the entire hood on my 911 and no PPF on my Macan. The 911 is a low car and prone to getting stone chips on hood. The Macan is much higher so I'm not worried. I have a friend who did PPF on his entire Macan GTS (at a cost of $8k in 2018) which later got totaled. I don't think the insurance company paid him more because of the PPF. I had 70k miles on a Jaguar that I sold when I got my Macan. The Jaguar had a few paint chips on the hood which I touched up nicely. Unless you do a lot of highway driving, I don't think you need any PPF (even on the hood) of a Macan. Doing more than the hood is a waste of money. Just my opinion.

I went with full-body PPF on my daily driver Cayenne due to my use case.

I regularly drive on the interstate with a lot of trucks around, and I didn’t want to constantly worry about flying debris or road rubble damaging the paint.

For me, it’s about peace of mind. I’d rather enjoy the drive than stress every time something hits the car.

A Macan sits lower than a Cayenne, so depending on the use case, the risk can be equal or even higher.

We did full front plus mirrors, same on our Cayman and Emira. The package on the Macan included door edges which is kinda silly but I couldn’t be bothered to tell them to skip it.

Is the reason not to do the headlights due to heat? We did headlights on the Emira but skipped it on the others. They’re all LED so I don’t think they run too hot.

I believe the issue with the headlights is that there is some kind of coating on the lenses that can get damaged by the film. I did not do mine,
