Default 2014 Macan Turbo

My wife is (was) driving a 2014(15) Macan Turbo which she loves(d) until the car stopped in the middle of a highway shaking like mad before cutting out. Porsche informed us that the camshaft has to be replaced and the initial 17K repair estimate has now grown to 30k. The car has only done about 85000km. The vehicle has been off the road for 11 weeks and we are still waiting.
I can't believe that Porsche sold me a lemon. Has anyone dealt with this type of a problem?

Nothing that bad. Sorry to read this. I was getting a check engine light with driving permitted. The code said it was a HPFP. Turns out the timing belt was stretched just enough. She gets a new belt and tensioners early next week.

What’s the delay on yours? What’s the shop say?

You can get a new camshaft off eBay for $350. Maybe find a good Indy that will work with you to repair. Labor at an Indy shop is probably less than $1500.

I am waiting for a full report. There are some other things that they've brought up.

I've approached a couple of garages. Both took 2 weeks before telling me that they will not do it.

30k sounds like a go-away price for a camshaft imho so its probably something more… I don’t know much but from watching car wizard et al, 30k is the cost of a new engine + install on a macan. I guess we’ll have to wait and see the full diagnosis from the shop.

Anyways I’m sorry you are in this situation, it definitely sucks.

Thank you. It hurts, especially when you hold the brand in high regard.
