Default 2018 Front left lock actuator replacement - Help!

After a weekend of trying solve this problem and making my hands look like I have been attacked by cats I am getting somewhat frustrated. I have found plenty of advice on replacing actuators on the other doors but it appears they decided to make the driver side VERY difficult - at least to me. Window is out and the window guide moved out of the way and I was actually able to finally get the actuator out. In order to do that though I had to disconnect it from the handle mechanism since they were connected. So when trying to get the new actuator and the existing handle mated back together I took out the inner handle thinking I could connect them together and slide everything in place. Well I cannot find the clearance to wedge both back in connected so I took them apart, installed the actuator and can get the handle back up close to where it needs to be but I cannot figure out how to get the male end on the handle to the female end of the actuator. I am thinking they had to get in there and connected some way when built but I can't figure it out. The way the connection looks it appears that the actuator goes first but I can't get the handle to connect. The male side of the connection is actually a bit flexible but from what I am seeing, not quite enough.. Is there maybe a way to take out the lock barrel/mechanism (which the male end of the handle is directly connected to or and I missing something obvious. I appreciate any ideas.

Borrowed some pictures form an EBAY listing..
