Default Macan Rear light facelift

New to the forum so please forgive the possible lack of etiquette in posting, but I'm trying to work out how to facelift the rear lights of a 2016 Macan with the later style tailgate and lights. I believe it's a matter of rehousing some pins in the plugs and coding it with a PIWIS, but I'm struggling to work it out so thought I would ask the question?

You might want to review the following 2 threads on another Macan forum. I have never seen it done (online images don't count!), and I personally like the Macan gen-1 rear lights. If you proceed with the conversion, please take lots of pics and update this post with details!

How to modify your 95B.1 Macan Turbo to look like a 95B.2 2019+ Turbo (thread started June 2019):

JMHO but the clean rear of the Gen 1 cars is very good looking. Updating to Gen 2 is not worth the cost nor time to do it.

If it's possible go for it - I have not done this, but def don't be discouraged to modify to what you want - it's your car.

I think OP wants to do what they want to do.
People like to modify cars to their own taste. Since we don't know the individual we shouldn't be so fast to shoot down what they want to do.

I agree, that is way prefaced my post with JMHO (just my humble opinion).

I totally appreciate the comments raised on this one, but I just can't help myself playing around with them. Anyway, all done now front and rear sorted, it's a fiddly job to do but you just need to change the pin configuration to get the new style rear lights working, and I also needed a front harness adapter for the headlights to work correctly, which I was sent with the headlights and then coding via a PIWIS. It was a head scratcher at times as little info out there so it's taken a while to get sorted, but the wife is happy with the end result, and as they say, happy wife, happy life!

I think I'll do the same thing in future as my rear trunk has some scuffs and needs repainting anyway. Did you buy the kit from Alibaba or did you get OEM parts?

No, but I have a contact that supplies all the OEM lights in China called Wei, he sorted everything out for me and I couldn't fault the customer service as he sent me the harness later to solve a problem we found with the UK pin configuration, plus arranged for an engineer to connect to my computer and do the coding as you need the PIWIS in engineering mode and once in this mode it's all in German so I couldn't work it out. I know he setup a new ebay shop recently so I've given you a link to it here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/testoem
,
As for the tailgate itself, then I bought this from an auto salvage breakers luckily in colour, so I didn't have to have it painted and it also came with the turbo spoiler attached, bonus!
