In my old school BMWs, I could get stratified air (cool fresh outside air at top in your face; heated air at your feet). In my 22 GTS, I do not see how to configure the climate controls to mimic this. It seems like "AUTO" control just sends air at a fixed temp to all vents. Am I missing something?
Also, the REST function always seems to be on (LED lit) when I turn off my car. Does that mean the function is activated and how do I turn it off? Will it stay off or does it need to be turned off each time the car is stopped?

In my '18 you can set arrows to three areas where you want to have the wind blow. Do you have an operator's manual?

Yes, mine will do that but it will not send cold air to your face while sending warm air to your feet. If you select arrows to your face it will blow regulated air to your face but nothing to your feet and vice versa.

Right, OK, you mean it is all the same choice of heat, just redirected. Yes, I think that is their system.

That is something I have only ever seen on BMWs. I'm not aware of any other automakers that have the stratification wheel other than BMW. It is not possible to do something similar in the Macan.
Auto rest keeps warm air circulated throughout the car for up to 20 minutes after the engine is shut off. It uses heat from the engine, and doesn't keep the climate control running.

Yup, it appears to me that BMW is the only car manufacturer that provided this feature. It was useful although I didn't really use it that much.

Yes, I think later BMWs have lost this system as well. I don't recall my 22 X3 M40i being able to do this. I really miss it. Old school BMW was very much into driver attentiveness and cold air in your face with warm air at your feet was one thing that might prevent a driver from dozing off on long trips, esp at night.
Re that REST function, does it draw battery power to run fans? And if the red LED bar is lit under the function, its active no?

Yes, it draws power from the battery. If battery voltage is too low, the function is initially restricted and then turned off. The red light indicator is lit when the function is ON. It's all in the manual.
