I'm using Costco and it's very cheap. Not the best service but good enough - human answers, asked questions, they require me to submit odometer readings since my 911 is garage queen (under 5k miles/yr). I rather save money and deal with not the best service when I have to.
I live in SoCal (auto insurance is pretty high here) and have 3 cars (2018 911 GTS, 2024 Macan T, 2022 330E) and semiannual premium is only $1,168 (500 deductible, no rental + 25 convenience fee).
Just throw you guys an option for super inexpensive but costco-backed insurance with ok service and super low premium.

Check out Amica. They are rated way up there on claims service and customer service. I’ve had a windshield claim on the Macan and a claim on the wife’s Cadillac when someone backed into it (parked). Amica was great; followed up to make sure repairs were completed, etc

Had Amica for a year or so. They were great and CS was fantastic. Geico was a few hundreds cheaper and included MBI. I reached back out to Amica two years ago and their rate was still quite higher. Might be worth looking into them again.

I didn't know that. due to recent weather issue (earthquake and heavy rain damage), I know more of insurance companies are not renewing/offering home insurance but I had no idea car insurance is no longer offered. what could be the reason for that?

I have had Progressive for many years (in Virgina) and we have never had a problem. We recently totalled our car in a wreck and they paid out quickly and without issue. We've had 2 other incidents over the last 7 years and never an issue with Progressive.

You’re not. All, ALL forms of insurance are increasing. I live in Houston area. My home owners insurance was through UPC. When Florida got recently trashed by a hurricane, UPC closed their doors and no one (no other insurance company) picked up the policy. I have no claims. That left me with 5 days to find anyone who would write a policy. My auto insurance is with Geico. Rates have jumped. Natural disasters, stupid under-educated uninsured drivers, Korean cars easily stolen, poor infrastructures, several states no longer requiring safety checks…. Oh. And inflation.

Im in California and have Grundy.

In contrast to all of the media reports that auto insurers were playing catch-up after Covid with rates going up 30%, my rate remained unchanged for 2024.

I also have a good friend who manages a very large BMW Collision Center with 40 employees. He says that the worst insurers that he's dealt with are State Farm and Allstate. The best?

Chubb.

I know cost varies based on a lot of factors, but I'm telling you guys... Erie Insurance. Very solid company that has been around a long time. My cost for a year on the 2020 Macan Turbo (CPO, 20k miles on the clock) I just picked up (original sticker $113k), costs me $1150 for the year with collision deductible of $500, comprehensive deductible of $100, and standard allowances for liability, etc.

I've never had another company touch their rates and they have always been very easy to work with when a claim is required. Check them out. And no I don't have any affiliation with them. I'm a software engineer...

Try Cincinnati Insurance. I have my 2020 992 C4S covered by them and they are reasonable

Cincinnati insurance has been great to me - that's what I currently have. But a friend of mine had an insurance policy from them on his Land Rover Defender that covers mods, but when his car was totaled from a deer strike, they refused to compensate him for the mods. I have heard similar stories from other folks as well.

Too many problems reselling a car with mods. Buyers want stock. For that, Cincinnati is the right insurance .

Most insurance companies will not cover mods unless you buy assigned value insurance which covers the added cost of mods. They also don't like mods because it can push the performance of the vehicle above "stock" which is the configuration their actuarial tables are listed for. Case in point, in the 80's I had a BMW M635 which was gray market and was substantially higher performance (power, top speed) than the US 635i being sold in the States. The insurance company did not have the "M635i" listed in their tables, so they did not want to insure the car. My agent finally convinced the home office to insure the car as a plain 635, but I wonder if the company would have paid for the higher value of the M car if it was totaled.
