Default Removing gear shift ****

Hey members!

New to join the forum. I have a 2016 Macan S for which im trying to remove the PDK shift ****. The replacement I have purchased turns 45deg clockwise but the one in my car won't turn in any direction. I've even used pliers with a soft cloth to grip and turn and I'm hearing cracks and creaks but it won't budge. I've changed it to the different positions too, but no luck.

Anyone have any advice or a video of how to remove the shift **** from the car plz?

Should be a collar at the base that rotates. Make sure you grip only that collar (its thin) and not the main body above it. I have seen vids on the 911 PDK, and I think they come off the same? Check your replacement for the direction it should rotate.

Unfortunately not the same. I've seen the 911 video too, but the Macan gear **** doesn't have any collar. It's attached directly to the leather surround. Even the replacement has nothing under the leather. It just turns with a little bit of effort

Yours has a leather surround? I thought only manual trans shifters had a leather surround.

Saw this on another forum - all points towards the 45deg turn and then pull up. (@DHL my '17 GTS also has leather surround)

Are you trying to rotate the whole **** assembly 45 degrees? On my 991 there's a small collar towards the bottom of the **** that you rotate (might be what they are trying to depict in the photo above?). If there's a small separate collar piece, try rotating that instead of the whole **** assembly.
