Hi guys, I was going to replace OEM filter to BMC today. I searched and saw a few videos and thought it was super easy removing 4 x T25s and sliding out the inner panel.
But after removing 4x Torxs, I realized inner panel is not removable and it's attached with intake pipes. And there are 2 other screws which iI can't remove (some sort of locking mechanism?)
Can anyone help me how to remove air filter on base engine please?
I think you found the right site. All you need are a T25 and T30 drivers. A rachet is way overkill. The long "bolts" are keyed at the hidden end, just takes a quarter (or half?) turn and then some needle nose pliers to pull out. No force needed at that point. The tricky and marginally force-required part is when you separate the sliding side of the box from the intake hose. Once you figure it out, it is easily repeatable.

Your tips really helped my install. Needle nose made it so easy to remove those long bolts and the air pipe really didn't feel like its going to move but suddenly after some random force, it disconnected easily. Knowing what's coming, the installation was pretty easy. Thanks for sharing tips.
Glad I could help. By the way, I agree that there is no real gain (per several forum postings) by changing the filter or housing, maybe a little bit of noise. Not sure about the warranty, but you could always ask the dealership. I changed my own filter with a direct replacement from the dealer for around $58. Whatever, good luck!
I would keep the OE filter. There are no gains from an aftermarket filter and considering that, it's not worth the warranty risk.
BMC Air filter is for 100 dollar sound improvement on T. Not expecting any gain really. And unless it's full intake, I dont see any warranty conflict. =)
