Unhappy PCM 4.0 freezing problem

Hello Rennlist folks,
I have a 2017 Macan GTS with PCM 4.0. It is now periodically freezing and then rebooting, once it figures out that it's frozen. Screen and ALL buttons become totally unresponsive. Sits for a while, continually playing the last station I was tuned to, (usually Sirius), then reboots itself and comes back normal.
If frozen, it does not shut itself off when I open the driver-side door after turning the ignition off. It waits until it figures out that it's frozen.
I've tried the Handover Reset, which did not work any differently than the regular reboot.
I've tried removing the fuses in the trunk area for a whole day, didn't solve the problem either.

Questions I have:
a) Does the 4.0 PCM have a disk drive in it like the 3.1 does? There is no compartment lid on the top of the 4.0, from the pics I've seen. Does the 4.0 have internal flash memory and no HDD?
b) How do I get a firmware update disk? My current SW/FW version is: MHI2_US_POG11_K3300 0809

Any light you can shed on this is appreciated.
And from what I understand, the only way to get this fixed (if it's a hardware problem) is to send to Becker Autosound in NJ.

Why has nobody responded? Maybe this thread was frozen. I have the same issue. Would appreciate some insight.

Were you ever able to get your PCM repaired? I have a 2017 Macan with barely 30k miles on it with the same problem. Porsche wanted $4600 to fix it, even though it’s clearly a faulty part given that I hardly ever drive my car and bought it brand new.

I am following to see if you resloved? Mine is now refusing to launch CarPlay. My dealer told me, $5k to replace unit, Becker was a possibility...I phoned Becker they said they only work non 3.1 and older. Not 4.0 units.

I am going to try to pull fuse, to force a restart, then install new OS I got off GitHub. If this doesn't work I've found a preowned PMC 4.0. It appears that mine works other than CarPlay. Dealer told me the hard drive is no accessible.

Let me know what you finally discovered. Thanks.
