Front Subframe/Crossbrace Upgrade (Audi Q5 part fits)
#31
It is easy to change the crossbrace. 30 minutes max once the car is lifted.
1) Lift the car with a frame lift or Quickjack, or put it on jackstands in the front. The car must be supported by the frame, no weight on the front wheels, when the crossbrace is removed and reinstalled.
2) Remove the bellypan.
3) Loosen the 6 crossbrace bolts.
4) Pry off the clip that holds a wiring harness to the top of the crossbrace.
5) Remove the 6 bolts and lower the crossbrace.
6) Install the new crossbrace with 6 NEW bolts, re-attach the wiring harness clip, or use a zip-tie to attach it to the new crossbrace.
7) Torque the front 2 triple-square-head bolts to 66 foot-pounds.
8) Torque the 4 rear hex-head bolts to 66 foot-pounds.
9) Tighten the front two triple-square-head bolts an additional 90 degrees.
10) Tighten the 4 rear hex-head bolts and additional 135 degrees.
11) Re-install the bellypan.
12) Remove the car from the lift.
You need to use six new bolts to install, as these are torque-to-yield. The ECS crossbrace includes the six new bolts.

Need some help with these belly pan screws. I was wondering where the ones with the teeth (T25) are used? I was removing my belly pans and noticed that the screws with the shoulders (T27) on them were being used where panels overlapped (made sense) but I also found the ones with teeth there? I probably have already answered my own questions but I wondered if each were used in specific areas? Thanks
