Leveling System Question
Reading owner manual on PASM and "Leveling during tire change" (pg. 124-125). Manual states leveling system should be turned off "before vehicle using a lifting platform".
I can see myself forgetting to turn off the system when I get my tires changed. Has anyone had any experience with what happens if you forget to turn PASM off during a tire change done on a professional lift?

I don't think it will do damage but could create the danger of it trying to level itself possibly dislodging your lift, jack or jackstand if you didn't have it high enough off the ground, or be a hazard to you if you were already reaching in/under the car and the wheel/suspension starts moving up and down while you have your hands in there.

Happened to me once where I forgot to turn off air suspension before doing brake pads. Nothing moved when the car was in the air, but it sat high for a couple of days and then settled at the right height.
Not sure if wheels would move upwards when unloaded, as I think pressure is just bled off and not actually pumped out of the airbags. Large trucks pump air out of the air bags and it's strong enough to pull wheels off the ground when driving unloaded.

What is the procedure for turning off the system for wheel removal? I am going to switch to my winter wheels this weekend and haven’t had the car on a jack before since it’s new.

If you forget to uncheck it after getting the vehicle back on the ground it automatically goes off when you drive off, above a certain speed, I think 15 or 20mph.

Maybe it depends on the year, but on mine the lowering button is depressed about 10 seconds and then screen will show leveling system inactive.

On the Macan, deactivating the self leveling has to do with the air suspension, not PASM. I don't have any experience with forgetting to lock it. Whenever it goes on a lift, it's been at the dealer or a Porsche specialist. The procedure is simple, just press the air suspension level for a few seconds to lock it. It's clearly stated in the owner's manual.
