You should be fine with independent workshop. Porsche dealerships are priced to rob you and all consumer so they can have some nice snack and fancy espresso machines in the dealership.

Just keep the receipt for reference if any warranty work try to blame it on you.

Model year production usually ends in August, so a 2018 model year car will have an actual manufacturing date of Sept 2017 to August 2018.
