In my new 2021 Porsche Macan, there are 2 styrofoam paddings on each side of the engine compartment. One of them looks damaged, like pieces of it have broken off (see photo). I was told that the damage may be due to rodents chewing on it and using styrofoam pieces to build their nests. I'm fairly certain the building where I live and park doesn't have a rodent problem. What else could've have caused this damage, and is this something I should be concerned about?
Argh. Rodents are an issue. Have used Rodent Defense for years with great results (no damage) after having had several incidents before. The styrofoam is probably more to deaden noise than anything else.
Not sure if you can use some of that spray foam insulation to build it up, let it dry, then carve it back down to shape?
These are packages you can place throughout the car, I have them in the engine bay, frunk and the interior. After using them over 2 years, no signs of rodents anywhere.
