Default 5 minute mod-Airconditioner Condenser Protection

Thought I'd share a simple mod that can save you some headaches down the road. I had the front windows tinted (30%) on my Macan today and decided to install these 2 front grill guards. I've had them on my 911 and were super happy with these grills. They make grills for the radiator area also, if interested. For the record, I am not affiliated with the manufacturer. Be sure to put tape and/or some sort of protection on the bottom part of the intake area, per the instructions, so you won't scratch the plastic/paint like I did. BTW, even though the instructions and product descriptions say "2021" facelift model, these fit the 2022 Macan GTS and S models; my GTS is a '22.

Zunsport makes a quality product. I’ve used their grills on two 911s. I plan to order a pair for turbo if they now have a proper size.

Thanks for the pictures - looks great. Sorry about the scratch. Did the install require that much force that the paint got scratched? Any other tips besides using tape to protect the paint?

I wasn't being careful, that's all. I would put some painter's tape to protect the area. Not much pressure/muscle required for installation; it's super easy. I'll probably order the lower two grills as well.

Good to know the ones from the 2021 Macan 2 fit the 2022 Macan 3. I was looking at those but they don't list them yet for the new Macan 3 front end. Will order them now!!

These grills protect the intercoolers, not the AC condenser.

Looking at the photos it looks like the Zunsport center grill may not fit on the 2022 if you have adaptive cruise and the surround view camera. The layout looks different to me from 2021.

My bad! Confusing myself with the 911.

Good catch! You're right. ACC & surround camera only effect the upper grill. Apparently, Zunnsport is developing them as we speak. I also ordered the center & lower grill just yesterday. PM sent.
Happy Easter, everyone!

Only problem is that it hides the nice looking silver condenser, that is one of the reasons I went with an S over the base because the base just has a black plastic piece covering that area and it looks quite ugly.

Thanks for info on the mod.

Question, can the middle vane be snapped out easily? I want to do what you did but with the grille behind the vane. It looks like installation would be much easier if it pops out.

Thanks. Protecting these fins is worth the trouble.

I’m not sure if the vane can be removed. The opening behind the vane is smaller than the grill and so if you wanted to mount it behind the vane, you’d have to figure out a way to attach the grill on the inside of the bumper.. I’m pretty sure that would require the bumper to be removed. I thought about removing the bumper and installing a GT3 style mesh but I wasn’t up to the task as I’m getting old and lazy.

Well, I am eager for suggestions. I have some black aluminum mesh planned for that space. Maybe I can slide it in at an angle, orient it, and lock it down with tie wraps.

Anybody had any luck/bad luck with DIY ing this?

I get you want to protect the intercoolers but this also reduces airflow somewhat significantly so it is a trade off.
