Full screen CarPlay and Android UI on new Porsche
Hello everyone, 2022 Macan just released not long ago, but we all know that there are some interior changes
2021 MACAN
We can see that screen now even bigger, but the PCM is still PCM5 not PCM6, which means that CarPlay screen still shows 2/3 of the whole screen.
And still no Android Auto for it.
But good news is that we can have activate the full screen CarPlay and Android Auto for all Macan from 2018 to current model. (for all Macan from 2017 to 2018 are equipped with PCM4 system, those are much easier to do and a lot cheaper)
The activation can be very simple, you will need to have :
1. Computer with Ethernet port (can use USB one if it does not have one)
2. Ethernet cable
3. Drink DUB-E100 verb1 or ver c1 network card ( Or you can buy cheap ax77882a or ax77882b network card and do EEPROM modification on it
3. SD card and download the installation file
4. Internet connection
5. There is no need to have any OBD diagnostic tool, all activation is not based on coding so you don't need to worry about auto coding from dealer as well
Installation diagram is as below:
AFTER install you will get Fullscreen CarPlay and Android auto
Android auto full screen
The software solution is purely on application level and 100% invisible to any diagnostic tool so that won't cause and dram in future.
If you worry about the firmware update in the future, here is the answer
1. it is very rare that your firmware on head unit can get update from dealer and in fact most of dealer does not even have any firmware at all
2. if there is a case your firmware has got updated, you can do self install again on from server by yourself, as long as it is the same car you can install as many time as you want, it only takes 5mins once all set up.
There is an other full screen option you can choose
it leave the bar on top and right side of the screen
However you can see the difference is that icon is really small as it just stretched horizontally which really strange resolution 1772x600
For a lot of app won’t show content properly as below :
You can see that only shows half content at bottom due to this stretched resolution
With 1920x720 resolution, you can have all content showed no issue at all
For the whole screen 1920x720 full HD will not have such issue at all
You may ask how to access the car menu in full HD 1920x720 mode
1.the button on the left doesn’t give you any good features except the shortcut to go to any sub menu
2. to do that, you either press the Porsche log in CarPlay screen to get back to main menu or any physical button just below the screen
Click tie icon you will get back to main car menu
And any buttons below the screen will dose exactly the same as the bar on the left of the screen
Anyway I can do both, so just try to explain which one is better
You can choose whichever you like, Both options are available
2021 MACAN
2022 Porsche Macan Interior Updates
The parts you touch the most – the steering wheel, gearshift, and center console – have been improved for the 2022 iteration of the Porsche Macan. The most notable change is the new center console, which features haptic elements in lieu of traditional buttons. This allows for a cleaner appearance without sacrificing functionality. The 2022 Macan also sees upgrades to the infotainment system. The Porsche Communication Management (PCM) screen now measures 10.9 inches (0.8 inches larger than last year) and features voice control. The new steering wheel design is derived from the legendary 911, and, when coupled with the reworked gear shifter and center console, make for an interior that’s both more stylish and more ergonomic. As always, a wide array of options are available to upgrade and personalize the interior of your new Porsche Macan. We can see that screen now even bigger, but the PCM is still PCM5 not PCM6, which means that CarPlay screen still shows 2/3 of the whole screen.

I assume your one is PCM5?
As 2018 is the cut off year for PCM4 production, so I am not sure you have PCM4 or PCM5
please contact me for more detail. This thread is for PCM5 with 10.8 inch screen, pcm5 has 8 inch screen
let me know what system you have in your car

you can see that icon is still small as the screen just been attached to larger.
This resolution is not normal resolution so that not all apps can fit properly
here is an example :
You can see that only shows half content at bottom due to this stretched resolution
example:
For the whole screen 1920x720 full HD will not have such issue at all
Here is another example which is android auto
The screen display is really scratched
Some of the text and menu won’t even shown in android mode if choose this stretched resolution
You may ask how to access the car menu
1.the button on the left doesn’t give you any good features except the shortcut to go to any sub menu

AA
Just had my 2017 Macan PCM “updated” to Android Auto and I felt compelled to post my experience. Raymond from Innovativesoft did the upgrade and I cant recommend him enough. He was very professional and incredibly skilled. I took the opportunity to also update my maps which he sorted as well. My PCM is working flawlessly and I’m enjoying AA. I cant thank him enough.
This incredibly positive experience I had with Raymond from Innovativesoft has left me jaded and annoyed/angry with my Porsche service manager. Let me explain;
Over the past 20 or so years I have purchased 2 x cayennes, 2 x 911’s and a Macan. Throughout this time I’ve had the same service manager and it’s fair to say we developed a mutual trust/regard for each other. In fact more recently I would say that there is nothing the service manager could tell me that I wouldn’t believe outright - that much was the trust that was built up. As naive as it sounds I really got the impression that my service manager would put my interests/cars above that of the corporation.
Recently the whole Apple CarPlay issue started to bug me in the Macan because as a long time Android user I just wanted android auto feature so as I could use Waze and hopefully avoid another speeding ticket. So I went and saw my service manager and over a coffee he looked me in the eye and said it was a “physical impossibility” that AA could be activated in my Macan. But my Macan has got Apple CarPlay I told him, surely it would be set up for AA. He was adamant that it couldn’t be activated BUT the new Macan has AA and perhaps I would like to upgrade.
Fast forward a couple of weeks I’m running AA on my 2017 PCM4 Macan (thanks to Innovativesoft) and I can’t help but feel what else over the span of my 20 year loyalty to this dealership have they lied about. It really feels like an incredible betrayal of my trust.
I’m due to upgrade one of my 911s soon and I will go back to the same dealership and do that but the past warm and fuzzy feeling at the dealership will be replaced with utter disdain.

Looks good innovativesoft, I will look into it.
May I ask about this also...
In the US this doesn't work, no haptic, just a sound, same for China?

Just completed my install with Raymond. Could not have been more pleased. Install was great and Raymond was very patient as newer computers don’t have a lot of ports for the install. A+ for Inovativesoft for making my Porsche much better!

I had Raymond perform this service on my '21 Macan and I couldn't be happier with the experience. He was very patient while dealing with my self inflicted technology issues. CarPlay now spans the whole screen and looks great!
