I thought the same thing. And it definitely makes you take your eyes off the road and look down if you need to look at the phone. I think I would prefer something that held the phone in your field of view while driving.

Good point. I would not be looking at it, but would use Apple Car Play. I just know that if I use the wireless charger option I will forget the phone since I do not see it....and I love the clean look so you do not have wires going to the phone. Clean and simplistic look. That is the benefit (to me).

Although $160 was a bit of an "ouch", is a specialty product. Ordered on the 4th and already came today. Have to guess the plastic mount itself was 3D designed then printed, tested, tweaked etc. as fit is perfect. Tight to the point that you would not want to remove it on a regular basis.

I use Apple Play via wireless adapter in the center console so is closer to that and Apple Play already seems to connect faster than it did with phone mounted on a vent holder to the right of the center screen. Have to guess will work better as well but we'll see.

Also will have to see how the location works out visually. With Apple Play normally have the Escort app up as Apple Play sadly does not support that. Do have to look down to see the screen sure, but hand is right there to touch the proper button when the detector goes off so bit 50/50 with the way I use the phone.

When Porsche designed the interior they made the odd choice that the phone should be in the center console so really no great place for it in any case. Also too bad that Apple Play is so weak rather than a mirror of the phone screen as it really should be.

But great solution for what they had to work with. From the other stuff they make I'm going to guess one of them has a Macan and made one for himself and figured might as well sell a few as well.

Will give thanks again to figure1a for posting.

Ummm, you really shouldn't be looking at your phone when driving.

I thought the same thing. The whole point of Apple CarPlay is to put the info on the dash—not look at your phone. The MagSafe charger allows a solid place to put your iPhone while it charges. And it lives in harmony with the Porsche efficiency esthetic—I mean, that's why the ignition switch has always been on the left.

You guys might like to read this thread on the Macanforum regarding creating a neat Magsafe solution: https://www.macanforum.com/threads/m....178789/unread

I ended up going this route of combining the Rennline mount with a MagSafe charger mount from Spigen. I think it turned out very nice: https://www.macanforum.com/threads/c...e-base.182304/

if that’s the case, why not just plug in the phone wired to the USB port in the glove box, and put the phone in the glove box? Totally out of sight, and apple car play options on the dash? That would remove any temptation to glance at your phone while driving. Just a thought……

Well, in my case it's not about temptation. I think someone else above was worried about glancing at their phone and taking their eyes off the road. In my case, it was just about having an elegant (no wires) and easy solution to store and charge my phone.

Because I am not tempted to look at my phone when driving. Why would I go through the hassle of putting it into the glove box?

I am with Figure1a on this one.....I am not tempted but like the no wire/clean look of it. Also, knowing myself and my "out of sight, out of mind" brain, if I put my phone where I cannot see it, I will forget it and leave it in the car. It is an age thing:-)

I get that. Hassle for you, not for me. This is why we exchange ideas and see what works. Thx

Just ordered my '22 Macan S. V200 status as of 1/8/22.

I did ask my SA about the wireless charger and showed it my case (otterbox) on my iPhone 12 Pro Max....he told me straight up the optional wireless charger that Porsche has would not charge through my case and an aftermarket charger would be most likely needed.

That was what my fear was since I had to purchase a MagSafe charger for home because all my older wireless chargers would not work. Was good to hear it from my SA as well that Porsche's wireless chargers are still not able to work with the thicker cases.

Based on this post from another website, the electrical outlet in the center console for '22 Macan will need a different mount solution.

Amazon just got back in this wireless magnetic mount that plugs into your cigarette lighter. As an added bonus if needed it has a regular USB port as 22’s only have USB-c. Works great with my IPhone Pr Max 13.

it’s a great idea but the Q&A says this does not work with MagSafe? Did you apply a sticker to your MagSafe iPhone or case to make it work? Reviews generally aren’t good. Glad it works for you though.
