Macan Battery
I love my 2016 Macan but was startled when told by two dealerships and one independent that it would cost me $850.00 to replace my battery. Any comments or thoughts?

"Search" is your friend here and at www.MacanForum.com. Plenty of YouTube videos that describe what's involved. Lots of equivalent batteries for around $200 or less. I just did mine. There's a NAPA battery made by EastPenn which is the exact same as the PORSCHE battery for $200. Purchased the AUTEL AP200 dongle for $60. It, along with my smartphone, registered the battery to the vehicle. "Knowledge is power" and knowledge will save you money!

Porsche does not make batteries.
therefore you have lots of choices.
Match the battery for size and voltage, get it paired, and you should be set.
$8oo+, is thievery.
first post? Your doing research, good on you.

Autel AP2200 can only code batteries for Macan 2017 and earlier

Had mine replaced by my Indie about two months ago - new battery, identical specs $300 including installation - no registration (had to re-calibrate the power windows and re-select auto DST choice) - thus far, no problems.

Did one in my 991.2 Carrera. You can avoid the re-calibrate if you put a power source across the battery terminals before you pull the old battery. In that case, car does not know the battery was changed. But you must use a power source that is "hot" all the time. Most battery chargers need to sense a battery voltage before they turn on. These will shut off as soon as you pull the old battery and then you will need to reset everything.

Just replaced the original battery on my 2015 S. Couldn't be easier. Some notes.
1. My dealer wanted $918 to do this. My dealer, like all dealers, is expensive. But he is not a robber. His prices are high, but not outlandish.
2. I bought an H8 battery from Walmart for $169.84. They delivered it for free in 3 days. I first tried to go to their store to buy it. But it was not stocked.
3. The battery is Walmart's "Everstart" brand. The box said it came from Clarios. This Walmart/Everstart/Clarios battery has a sticker that says it was made in Germany.
4. Clarios owns Varta.
5. A sticker on it said "9/23." Buying it online probably meant I got a fresher one from a central warehouse than one that may have been in a store for a while.
6. The Walmart battery is 900 CCA.
7. The Walmart battery has a 4 year replacement non-prorated warranty. Doesn't get much better than that.
8. The registration process is easy. I used the iCarSoft POR V2.0. But others should work too.
There's lots of posts and YouTube videos on how to do this. It's not difficult.
