Horrible gas mileage, what have I done wrong?

Three Wheelin'
I am getting about 18 mpg for light traffic suburban driving...on the road at 75 to 80 I get about 20/21... (2019 Macan S)
I am easy on the acceleration....(2nd away from the light)
****Just back from a 250 mile trip, on the highway at 70 got up to 26 mpg (on the computer) averaged 22 over the trip....(light urban traffic)

I have no idea whatsoever.

If you have it set to Sports mode that will also lower your mileage. Also start/stop will never work in Sport. You may want to read up on coast mode as is a nice feature to have.
One thing I found as odd is the Turbo lists the same expected mileage as the S & GTS. Only had mine Turbo a short time as well but only seeing 17mpg. But not a lot of highway and your right. Intoxicating they are for sure.
But economy cars these are not. Just enjoy and be glad your not driving it Germany where gas is currently close to $7 per gal. Ouch.

glad to know that my MPG is normal, but premium gas in CA is getting close to $5 so I'm feeling the pain.

I have put on over 5k miles in 2months. In that 5k, I ran consistent 23MPG. It's what I expected and got. What I don't do is run the speeds you do and run cruise at 5MPH over shown speed limit. I generally keep my RPMs at/below 2k (my Father taught me the 2k RPM/MPG/limit years ago). I'm getting more comfortable with Start/Stop as well.

Welp, I guess we can close the Case of the Carbonized Cylinder Heads, boys...

For what it's worth I also turn on the auto engine shut off when driving longer distances when I don't expect to stop often, since when you lift off the gas (going downhill for instance or just to slow a bit with other cars around) the car goes into neutral, and out of gear, thus easing fuel consumption a fraction more. The only benefit in my books of the auto on/off feature.

The mpg shown in the display NEVER matches what I calculate each time I fill up. It always shows better mileage that what I actually get. This also was the case on my Cayman and on my 911.

Just another perspective - assuming $3.50/gal and the average 15,000 miles per year, the cost delta between 20 miles/gal and 23 miles/gal is $342 for the year. Personally, I'd rather skip a couple of dinners out and enjoy driving rather without worrying about maximizing miles per gallon. I applied the same logic when selecting an S over a base.

Just an update on this topic, after 11K miles in just 5 months and 4-5 more road trips, I found that the cruising speed do have a huge impact on MPG, (more so than any other cars I had owned.)
in my recent trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco, I manage to beat the EPA rating and get over 23MPG by cruising at 74-76mph and use coasting during downhill, it also seems like that's the speed the car is most happy with,
one minor note is I switch my engine oil to Castrol EDGE 5W-40, not sure if that has any impact or not.
