Cross post from the Macan Forum:
My 2017 S HID headlights are useless if not dangerous, especially if it is raining. I had stock HIDs in my 08 Cayenne and they were brilliantly bright on low and amazing on high beam. The Macan lights are pathetic in comparison. The high beams don’t throw the light out any farther than the lows, but just create a wider circle of light, which is useless. What have people found in the aftermarket which works with the stock headlight enclosures and doesn’t throw codes?

I just noted that you own a 17 and a 71. Cool numbers.
I was thinking about the issue last night driving a t dusk and I am assuming that you can't simply swap, plug and go the LED's without a code.?.?.?

Over here in the UK we've found a solution that works really well that I can personally say made a huge difference

State side we have HIDs, just ineffective HIDs. I decided to order OSRAM Nightbreaker HIDs which get very good reviews. Had them on my Cayenne and they worked a trick. We shall see and report back.
Watched a YouTube vid on How To and got everything disconnected except the darn wiring harness. Tried everything and it would not release, so reassembled everything and will have some professional help this Friday. Felt like an idiot.

The Nightbreakers are bright BUT the headlights are still aimed too low to do any good. Understand that changes to headlight angle also requires some reprogramming. Will do more searching since anything faster than 25 requires high beams

2017 S owner since March and had put 14K miles on the car, and multiple road trip with night time driving and I have no issue with the headlight,
I do wish I have the LED headlight though they simply looks better even not turn on.
One thing that I worried about putting aftermarket bulb on the car is the infamous headlight clear coating delamination.
