Default 2021 GTS Options

Hello,

Long time admirer, first time buyer of a Macan GTS. As expected, I am finding choosing options a bit of a difficult task. What are everyone's thoughts regarding the following options:

1) 8 way vs 14 way vs 18 way seats: The car I test drove had 8 ways and seemed very comfortable to me. Curious as to whether there is a marked difference with the 14 and 18 way.
2) Full leather vs Race Tex: I am inclined to go with Race Tex based on styling. Anyone have any positive or negative experiences with Race Tex?
3) What am I missing: thoughts on must have options?

Thanks!

I went with a "sport" build when ordering our 2018 GTS and selected the 8 way GTS sport seats which are the same seats as the 18 way - without all the bells and whistles. I'm 5'9 145 and find the 8 ways extremely comfortable and have driven several 10 hour + trips and I didn't want to stop driving. It really depends on ones body size and physical condition, i.e. back issues, etc.

I also went with the GTS interior - black leather with Alcantara. No issues and not overly hot in the summer. No regrets.

For the cargo area you might want to select the Cargo Managment Systems - a really nice option for securing loads in the back and cheap by Porsche standards.

Had a ‘15 Turbo with 18 ways and leather. Now have a ‘18 GTS with 8 ways and alcantara/GTS interior

1. I would go with the 18-ways. The 8-ways are comfortable enough on city driving but when taking longer trips i really miss the 18-way adjustability, especially the lumbar. On the long trips the ability to vary the pressure points of the seats on your body was to me, worth the additional price.

2. I also like the Alcantara/Race Tex more - it looks better and fits the sportier looks of the GTS more. I also like how it doesn’t crease like leather. One big disadvantage though - on the ‘18’s, you couldn’t get ventilated seats with Alcantara. That was a big loss for me in Florida.

1. With chronic back pain I found that either the 14 or 18 way seats are incredibly comfortable. The 18 ways are infinitely adjustable. So I went with them on my '21 GTS on order
2. I have no experience with Race Tex, but have had two Porsches previously, both with full leather. Never been disappointed.
3. As to must have options, heated seats and steering wheel (depending on your location), the wheels you love (I got 21" RS Spyders), upgraded sound system to at least the Bose system. Go through the entire option list multiple times. You'll change your mind a dozen times, but you'll figure out what's a must and what isn't. Good luck!

I just picked mine up on Saturday. I really like the Sport Chrono Package, Surround View, and Porsche Entry and Drive.

I like my 14 way leather and seat ventilation, especially on long trips in warm weather. I don't think vented seats are available with sport tex, but then again may not be as needed with cloth.

Wife’s new Turbo that I’ve been allowed to drive once 😡

Slate leather ventilated seats, 18 way.... they just hug you so nicely!

Alacantra headlining.... it’s not black, sort of grey, very nice touch!

sport chrono..... don’t even consider not getting it, so compliments the car!

Air suspension.... a revelation!

Boot liner.... have yet to get but I would say a necessity! Gonna cut up and use the old landrover one until the new one arrives.

Storage pack... it lacks space for stuff.

They all come with usb-c in the centre box now so will need to hit up Amazon for your preferred charging cable... just got a short iPhone lightning cable for £7, so $10.

Premium Plus is a great value if you are leaning towards those options.

The sunroof and heated/cooled 14 way leather makes all the difference in my Base model. The GTS would be exciting to own and with Premium Plus and 21 inch Sport Classic wheels would be the ultimate Macan, for me.

JMHO.

I’ll just offer this one bit of advice for optioning your new GTS......with the GTS, get the Sport Chrono package!

As I’ve said before, the GTS Macan should have the SC pkg as standard equipment like every other GTS model does in the Porsche lineup.

GTS is Porsche’s “enthusiast model” per Porsche. Therefore it should include all the enthusiast related options as standard (well, probably with the exception of PCCB, leave that optional).

Default Copy/Paste from Macan Forum

I went through much of what you are going through when ordering mine. I recently posted a summary of my observations after 50 days of ownership. See below.

PS- Nick Murray's video (link above) is a GREAT resource....as is Nick in general.

I've had my GTS for a week, and am still looking for excuses to go drive the car.

I have the 14-ways. I do not dislike them at all. If you can check the fit (for a 30 minute+ sitting), get the seats that feel the best to your butt/back. I sat in a 2021 Cayenne GTS at the dealer waiting on my paperwork. That car had 18-way seats, and I felt that they were very comfortable for the few minutes I sat in them (I'm 6' @ 250lbs). That being said, I do not believe that the current Macan seats are the same as the current crop of Cayenne seats. By my measurements, and by my butt, they are more similar to the previous generation Cayenne seats. I currently have a 2014 Cayenne Platinum, and a 2019 Cayenne S, both with 14-ways. My Macan's 14-ways feels almost the same as the 2014 Cayenne 14-ways. They feel very different, but better, than the 14-ways in the 2019 Cayenne S. Just my opinion.

I plan to use my car as a DD, and I'm a huge fan of LCA (*not* LKA). So I set myself up with PP+/LCA/Bose/14-ways, SC, PTV+, 20" turbo's, all seasons, leather, and the GT steering wheel. I also got the wireless charging bits because it gives you a better cell antenna. Everything else was cosmetic, with an emphasis on clean/low key. Grey car, grey wheels, body color blades, no model designation, etc.

Had our GTS since 11/30. Very happy with the build. Hubby loves the 14 way and finds the 18 way a bit trickier to get in/out of (he has bad back), and too “snug” with the bolsters. His shoulders are crunched at the top and he prefers the 14 way for fit. If you can sit in the various seats it’s the best way to tell, because it’s quite personal depending on your build and how your body “fits” into the seat. I find the 14 way perfectly comfortable, and the 18 way don’t bother me at all. I’m happy with either. I have no experience with 8-way.

We always go full leather and he cannot live without ventilated seats. It’s an option I rarely use and generally dislike - again very personal to the individual.

Good luck and enjoy the process!
