AMSOIL capacity is off by 1.6 quarts or 27% of the total emperical volume; that's a HUGE delta. I didn't let the oil drain from the crankcase for half a day, I sucked it out with an air operated pump in a matter of minutes. So chances are there's still a bit more oil remaining.

On my 991.2 3.0l I I, unfortunately, cannot suck the oil out. Instead I have to drain it and get right at 9.5 quarts; I have no idea how much is left in the crankcase. I fill with 9.5 quarts and get a full green dipstick on the instrument cluster.

I think I see what the difference is. What is build date of your car? AMSOIL shows oil capacity of 5.5 quarts on the 2019 Macan, 4.4 quarts for the 2020 model. Based on what you drained I think you've got the previous engine, and that Porsche (VAG really) has changed engines at some point for the 2020 model year.

I stand corrected, Fumoto does not make any drain plugs for plastic ones. Good catch. Here is the pop-up text:

Some oil pans are made of plastic and/or come with plastic oil drain ports. Unfortunately Fumoto valves are incompatible with all plastic oil drain ports. If you are unsure if your oil drain port is plastic or metal we strongly recommend taking a look at your oil pan. In many cases plastic oil drain plugs are brightly colored and easy to differentiate from metal plugs. However in some cases they are black and difficult to differentiate.

The numbers from Amsoil aren't necessarily incorrect.

Besides, better to start off a quart short and have to top up than to over-fill.
I stopped by my local P dealer today to ask my SA about the oil capacity difference on the Base 2.0L 4 cylinder engine. He said "Let me go talk to one of my service team leaders." When he returned he said in mid-2019 Porsche changed the oil viscosity spec from 0W-40 to 0W-20. For 2020 model year the oil capacity is changed to 4.4 quarts. Interestingly enough the 2020 3.0L V6 (engine code DLZB) is also calling for 0W-20, with capacity of 7.9 quarts. The 2020 2.9L V6 (engine code DGRC) calls for 0W-30 or 5W-30 with capacity of 6.6 quarts.

AMSOIL's figures are correct, as well as having the oils matching the specifications.

Thank you for the feedback, but I think there is some confusion here.

I physically pumped six (6) quarts from my wife's 2020 Macan with a 2.0l engine; see pic in my previous post. I poured six (6) quarts back in the crankcase and the digital dipstick reads full. There is now way the oil capacity of a 2020 2.0l Macan is 4.5 quarts; I think someone's smoking carpet.

Obviously there’s some confusion here for the 4 cylinder engine. Those using dealer or indy for service should get correct quantity. If you’re a DIYer (I am) take care on the refill. I’m not stirring the pot here, just passing on info told to me by local dealership.

Question I have: Will car advise you of an overfill, or just show full?

I believe, like Siberian, that the 2.0l engine in the Macan is also fitted in the Audi Q3. In fact, we both think the engine is actually manufactured by Audi. Following is the oil capacity for a Q3.

I have not tested an overfill situation on the 2.0 in the Macan, but I do know for a fact on an Audi it will show an overfill condition. It is very sensitive. My neighbor's Audi R8 was overfilled by just under 1/2 a quart, and he got the overfill message.

Like you, I haven't tested the functionality of the over-fill indicator on the Macan. But I've seen the over-fill message on other folks' 991.2 and the instrumentation between the Macan and the 991.2 appears to be the same.

I can confirm that the oil overfill warning works on a 2019 Base 2.0 Macan.

I have a mid-2019 base Macan. 2 oil changes made so far with 0W-20 as recommended. 5L each time.
