Default Buying a service loaner

I am looking at buying a '19 or '20 Macan service loaner from a dealer. They are telling me it won't come CPO'd. Has anyone had experience with purchasing one of these from a dealer?

Did they tell you why it won't be CPO? There should be no reason they can't CPO a service loaner.

Once they add in the CPO price, they made be too far above market?

If you cannot get it as a CPO - don't balk, walk...

Service car seems like a rental car, lots of different people driving it and more than likely “seeing” what it can do. Without CPO is a no go.

To me the equation is simple: Service Loaner = best 4WD drive + Sports + 'lets see if it can do this' car I will ever own...

As others have said, if they won't CPO then it doesn't meet their criteria for a CPO car. The criteria for a CPO car is a pretty low bar. I wouldn't buy without a big discount and I would also try and get them to explain exactly what they turned up in their own inspection.

They can do this for some service loaners, such as with my '19 base. They should also in principle be able to shift the start time on the CPO warranty, in my case again, 6 months after the car was first in service as a loaner.
They will likely charge you more as the CPO certification costs something like an extra $3k or so, if I recall correctly.

The only benefit to buying a service loaner IS the CPO warranty. Without CPO, it's just another low mileage used Macan that's too close to the price of a brand new one to justify purchasing.

I have purchased CPO service loaners in the past and driven them for 5-10+ years without any issue. I find them to be often very well kept and keep in mind these are NOT rental cars. They are often cars loaned out to a person with an equivalent vehicle in for service.

Indeed, I would not hesitate to buy a service loaner. But it would have to be CPO, and if they will not CPO it (even if you're willing to pay a price difference), then there's some reason behind that.

My daughter just got her first job and subsequently bought the first car with her own money. It was a Mazda 7 service loaner and it came with a CPO warranty.

I don't think Mazda makes a "Mazda 7". They make a "Mazda 6" sedan, and used to make a Mazda CX-7 SUV, and before that a Mazda RX-7 sports car, but their biggest seller (by far) these days is the Mazda CX-5 SUV.

I bought my 2018 Macan as a service loaner with 4,000 miles and it was CPO’d. Been great so far.
