APR Ignition Coils are designed to be a direct plug-and-play upgrade to factory coils, and provide greater energy output, ensuring a stronger and more consistent spark. The commonplace replacement of factory ignition coils with those taken from higher output Audi RS models, such as the 2.5T, is popularly believed to provide greater energy output. However, testing proves that they are no more powerful than the factory coils that are found on 1.8T and 2.0T engines. APR Ignition Coils increase energy output by 10%. They are a direct upgrade or replacement, and come in various colors!

Looks interesting especially for $40 a coil, but I'm wondering what does a 8-12 miili joule increase actually do for performance and if it's discernible to the driver? I would be curious to see what would be achieved with an higher output coil like in the 150 millijoule range if they were available. It's worthwhile bolt on when one does a preventive coil and plug change. I just completed the same on my Cayman S and went with standard plugs and Beru coils. The car runs as well as it did prior to the change.

The 3.6 uses a slightly different coil. If I'm not mistaken, it's similar to the older Audi 4.0T coil, which we're looking into now.
