Default Off Roading a Macan

Hello everyone...thinking of a Macan S for a daily...like the size and handling over a Cayenne for street use...I know the Cayenne is quite accomplished off road...was wondering if anyone has done any light off roading with the Macan? and if so any input on how it does or does not do? limits etc...I realize the Macan is more of a crossover but would be nice to know if it is semi capable off road...I'm on the east coast...More specifically in Maryland I like to go to Assateague Island...the sand on the beach can get pretty deep..Had a Landcruiser that obviously did well but worried the Macan may get stuck....would be embarrassing to have to be pulled out...any input/experience with the Macan off road would be appreciated.

Timing Cover issue repaired under CPO Warranty at 82,000 miles. Required engine out. 2015 Macan Turbo. Car is under warranty until October 2021. Would HIGHLY recommend buying a CPO Macan. The 400 horsepower turbo is intoxicating. Ran 13.2 @ 104 mph at Great Lakes dragstrip the day after the above pic was taken. Good luck!! 😁

I went off-roading today through the car wash. Lost my rear wiper blade. Dangerous place, these car washes.

I replaced a Subaru with my Macan. I've touched many 12-13k trails here in Colorado with that Subaru - but only touched. The Subaru was so friggin underpowered and an awful CVT that it became dangerous (PSA: Subaru CVTs are not strong enough to incline steep angle trails). Test driving SUVs until I entered the Porsche. That was it, I was sold. This Macan Turbo is the absolute best car I've driven. It will continue where the Subbie left off - but this time I'll get over some of those passes.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, I've taken my 2006 BMW X3 (6-spd manual, 3.0L, M-sport) and my 2014 BMW X1 xDrive35i (automatic, twin-scroll turbo, 3.0L) on many, many Forest Service roads and out on the deserts in Eastern Oregon. I've never had an issue. They were both quite capable. I'm looking forward to getting my Macan out into the mountains soon! I bought it in January and then the pandemic happened, so I haven't really done very far with it. So, my expectation of the Macan is that it will be great. Now, to be clear, there are some off-road situations that only a heavily modified truck will handle, but I've never actually found myself in one of those, and I've been hiking in California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, BC, and Alberta for 2 decades.

I have the air suspension and it's set on it's highest setting for some GREAT clearance. Until I get some decent skid plates, I'm gonna grandma drive this thing off road.

sounds good...be interested in hearing about the skid plates...do you have to get the skid plates custom made?

I haven't found any vendors building under-carriage skid plates (for the Macan), so my guess is I'll have to have them custom built.

What is wrong with the ones Porsche has for options? Are they too expensive?
