Very interesting, thanks for sharing. So the initial rumors of the new 2.9 liter were correct.

The factory rating of 434hp is only 6hp less than the outgoing Turbo w/ Performance Pack, but it appear that the torque curve is likely 'fatter'. The published HP rating is only part of the picture anyway.

Also of note is the Macan Turbo appears to be getting the PSCBs (Porsche Surface Coated Brakes). Let's hope they get the extreme noise issues ironed out before the Macan Turbo hits the streets (see the Porsche Cayenne 9Y0 forum for the gory details on this).

It appears the PSE might also be standard on the new Turbo. Looking forward to learning more.

Default 95 BT

With unusually beautiful weather here in W. Former Chi-town suburbia, and being fortunate enough to have a lengthy Porsche “experience”, gotta say that my ‘18T as tweaked checks most boxes in my (“elder”) lobes...

Heading there now. Just ordered a pretty well equipped S. I'm going to compare it to the Turbo and possibly change my order.

If you have a highly optioned S, turbo will usually be a better deal as alot more things become standard.

I am not sure about the new brakes, but the PCCB at a $4.7K price is awesome as most likely won't ever need to replace brakes during ownership compared to our current turbo at 40K miles with one set replaced. Nice that the sport exhaust is standard.

Just waiting for my dealer to get their allocation to put in our order!

I was hoping that would be the case, but the car I ordered lists for about $92,000 and a similar Turbo lists for about $107,000. I could cut out some options, but I really wanted to spec this Macan with an eye toward appearance and luxury rather than outright performance. My first Macan was a Turbo with partial leather, standard wheels, standard sound system, etc. This time I'm opting for things like Chalk paint, Sport Classic wheels, Burmester, full black/red leather, etc. The extra power and handling prowess of the Turbo is nice, but for my purposes an S will do just fine. I'll use the $15,000 savings on the 992 Targa we'll order when they're announced.

What is this 2.9L engine like? I had it in a Panamera 4S loaner and I was not impressed, mainly because it was so quiet. I’ve read reviews af other cars with this engine and there is not much talk about it. I really don’t like the fact it is literally 2.9L just to get into China with their 3.0L regulations.

Probably announce in 2021 and will be a 2022 model year. The GTS model is usually near the end of a production run.

Could be, but I think we might see an announcement on the GTS sometime in 2020, with a mid/late 2020 or early 2021 availability. You're correct that the GTS variant is typically the last version announced for any Porsche model lineup.

We have a 15 turbo currently and the 20 we are looking to order is coming in around 110k. Looks like the options you want on the S are also options on the turbo which is why there is such a big difference. I would like PTS to match my signal green gt3 but it’s my wife’s car so no can do. Good luck with your order and future targa!
