Will be trading in our 2016 S,18,000 miles, next month or so after body repairs. How does one establish ahead of time the value of our Macan? Want to have some idea before heading into battle. Thanks all.

KBB, Edmunds, NADA etc can be accurate, or wildly inaccurate depending on the car and the situation.

If you want an accurate answer, start calling/emailing dealers.

Here are some auction prices. It will give you a range. Mileage and condition are important factors.
You can always take it to a Carmax and get their price to buy it.

I assume dealers hit up those auction prices, and then mark up by at least $5k. Sound about right?

 

Selling cars is not quite that easy. Those prices don't include auction fees, transportation (shipping isn't free) and then putting the car through service department and clean/detail, etc.

 

Any kind of damages fixed correctly or not will gut any decent trade-in or outright purchase number. GLWS.... And, at $16K worth of damages, get what you can as quickly as you can.

 

You get any diminished value compensation for those damages? I'm assuming it was the other driver's fault. If so, how'd you do it?

 

If you live near a Carmax, take it there to get a binding (for a few days, at least) cash offer. It takes about an hour and is a good thing to have in your hand when you visit dealers or other possible buyers. Always good to have a fallback...

 

KBB said my “trade in” price for my 2018 Macan GTS was $65-72k. The dealer offered me $55k due to “current market” conditions.

 

It would be interesting to know exactly what your dealer means by “current market conditions”. Given that there’s not a GTS Macan model currently available new, and not likely to be for another year or more, the existing 17-18 GTSs in my area are bringing very good retail prices on the used market. Therefore $55k trade/wholesale for a relatively low miles used GTS sounds considerably low.

I suspect your dealer’s feeling you out to see if you’ll ‘bite’.
