Please tell me why I would want to pay $50 for the kludge oil filter tool compared to a 36mm socket for $10 that does the same thing ??????

I concur. But sometimes a normal oil filter socket will simply round off the notches in a filter that's really stuck on by some "gorilla" mechanic. There's a similar tool sold by SEARS Craftsman that does the same thing for less money.

So do it yourself and you don't have to worry about a 'gorilla'.

Uhhhh, Bruce, I've been "doing it myself" for well over 60 years now. However, I've purchased vehicles that were serviced by others who saw fit to torque the filters on seemingly with an impact wrench.

That tool isn't meant for a cartridge like system on the Macan. It's meant for removing an oil filter canister that is really stuck and won't come off. I don't see how that tool would even work on the Macan at all.

Ozzie, you're right. It's for canister-types like on the 993's. etc. I think the offer is not meant to entice Macan or Cayenne owners so much as it is for their broader automotive base.

Well nothing to really show, but a one year renewal of Porsche Connect Services for $99. Porsche sent me an email.
