21" vs. 20" wheels - ride quality
Anyone have an opinion or experience with how the Macan feels on 21" vs. 20" wheels?
I have 21" wheels on my Cayenne S right now, and while I love the look, I gotta think that my overall ride quality is diminished a bit (295/35). Not to mention the reduced choices in tires. I'm sure going to a 295/40 would help, but having driven other Cayenne's and Macan's with 20" wheels they feel much better. Granted they were also newer vehicles.
I'm looking for a Macan GTS now, and I'm wondering if it would suffer the same reduction in ride quality with 21's. I haven't been able to drive one yet, so I have no personal experience.

i have both, for summer 21's and winter 20's... It is different but you get use to it.
Different in that the 21's handle so much better in cornering, but are a bit more harsh. i find i take of sport suspension setting some time going down freeway if its odd surface. All in, i would recommend the 21's to you being in the N california and not needing snow tires.

I have 21" wheels on my Turbo, also with air suspension and the ride is fine. If you want to go that big, I'd suggest you spring for AS. After the, what, $3300 bucks or so for the wheel upgrade another $1400 won't break the bank but will add a lot to the car. For any other wheel size I'd recommend at least getting PASM because it gives you a lot of flexibility.

I've got a Macan S with 20" on the standard suspension and have test driven a Macan Turbo with 21" on air suspension and PASM. The suspension seems to matter far more than the wheels. I can't recommend the AS/PASM enough - yes it is firmer, but it still soaks up the bumps and pot holes and the handling is significantly better (although my DD is a 911 with SPASM, so anything else seems a bit squishy to me). Get AS/PASM and you won't care about the size of the wheels.

I just ordered a new Turbo Sunday, and would have opted for the 20's, but the wheel I liked was the 21 Sport Classic's for ease of cleaning. I have the RS Spider design type on both my 911 TTS, and Panamera TT, and they are a pain in the ^$@ to clean.

Higher sidewall on 20 would offer better ride with less control. Like many said though, big difference in the suspension.

My turbo with steel suspension and 20' spyders rides smoother than an E class merc IMO. Test drove one with the 21s and it handles a smidge better but the ride is too harsh. Plus too many potholes in the midwest and the rims/tires are expensive...

One aspect of the 21 inch wheels is worth considering: Unless you have XPEL or similar material applied, the additional width of the wheel and tire combination up front will cause road rash along the rocker panels and blades.

Apologies for the threadjack.

Smart man! With the grey and 20 inch wheels, I think you'll be o.k. but look closely just aft of the front wheel openings to see if you already have the dreaded rash. Black shows up much worse.

I have the 21" wheels and they been driven 30K miles. There is zero road rash on the rockers and (carbon) blades. There is a little wear behind the rear tires but most of that cleans up with a buffer. If I wear to redo it, I'd add some Xpel behind the rear tires.
