What’s Happening With Sales?
Who exactly is making this big push for electrification everywhere?
Is it the governments? Why? It can't be the car companies themselves, because clearly there is little demand for this.
I've even seen popular Youtubers over the past few years saying in videos stuff like, "EVs are coming! Better prepare! The days of these GT3s and Turbos is coming to an end!"
Otherwise, sane, intelligent people who are loudly proclaimaing, and accepting, completely phasing out ICE cars, even 911s, in favor or full electric ones. Don't they know unless this is 100% mandated by government, the consumers will never want this?

They don't seem to be doing that badly with the Macan. Be interesting to see what the full year numbers are. In the area of the UK I live in, the Macan EV is very popular.

Well, the EU is 100% electric from 2035. The UK is hybrid only from 2030 and complete electric from 2035. Maybe these dates will change, but that's why we've been seeing the decisions from European car companies like Porsche. So, to your point, it currently is 100% mandated by the government.
China is effectively heading electric only as their internal Auto industry is state supported and focussing on fully electric.
The U.S. is not a large enough market for a company like Porsche to exist with ICE only.
I'm not saying what the EU, UK or China is doing is right or wrong. It is the direction of the laws and industry. And I say this as someone who has a 991.1 GT3, a 992.2 GT3 on order, and also a 992.2 GTS. So accepting reality doesn't mean I have to like it!

I was recently in Germany and was talking to a family friend there. She mentioned that the cost of German EVs is prohibitive relative to the competition, especially the competition from China. The market for a Macan EV can be debated, but I happened to see my first Macan EV "on the road" yesterday... it certainly has a nice presence on the road, and so at least from the design point of view I think Porsche did a great job.
My local dealership did a test drive when the Macan EVs first came out - it was a really cool event with 25 of us, each in a new Macan EV with no salespeople, driving a 3 hour tour led by a sales guy in a GT3 and a sales guy bringing up the rear in a Taycan. It was a ton of fun and they encouraged us to drive it like it was ours - but the one I was in glitched completely multiple times, which scared me off of the new car teething pains. At the end of the event, they offered $15k off for the 24s and $10k off for the 25s inbound.
Crazy thing is no one ever followed up with me after the event, even though they know I have several Porsches and daily a Tesla Model S. Not a single phone call from anyone at the dealership - seems like that event was a waste of their time and money. Can’t say I’ve seen more than one or two driving around Texas.
