Problems with Plug and Charge
Picked up my Macan 4 today and having the same issue. Haven't done a factory reset but based on an earlier post in this thread, sounds like I should leave that to the service department instead of trying myself. I have tried changing credit cards and that did not help. I just have the Plug & Charge toggle, but enabling it causes it to spin for a minute and then just go back to off. I did get it to show an error message twice (both times it said it was having a problem communicating with the server) but nothing really helped (wifi, cellular, doesn't matter). I guess I will have to take it into the dealer.
One of the service techs said that a temporary work around was to connect to an Electrify America charger and use the Porsche App to charge the car. I tried that but just kept getting “Server could not be reached” error. Some people have said that factory resetting the car after updating the mobile app to the latest version fixed it (have to do this outside apparently), but I haven’t tried this yet.
The problem is universal for all Macan EVs. My service advisor sent me the following:Below is a step by step guide on how to charge at an Electrify America station when plug and charge isn’t work or unavailable.
Step one – When at the charging station:

Step 2: When the name and address of the Charging Station pops up click the address itself

Step 3: Click the Combo (CCS) type plug.

Step 4: Look at the Electrify America station you’re at and click whichever number matches the one on your station.

Step 5: Click Start Charging, then plug in the car.

Step one – When at the charging station:
- Open your MyPorsche App
- Click Map at the bottom
- Click charging in the middle of the screen
- Click the charging station on the map
Step 2: When the name and address of the Charging Station pops up click the address itself
Step 3: Click the Combo (CCS) type plug.
Step 4: Look at the Electrify America station you’re at and click whichever number matches the one on your station.
Step 5: Click Start Charging, then plug in the car.
Regarding the Plug and Charge... things seem a bit glitchy in the software. I was able to get it working this morning, but then ran into another issue.
First I was in the state similar to everyone else in the thread having the issue. I tried a Factory Reset this morning via the System settings menu. Upon reboot, I entered my account details and logged in. And then I went to the "Charging App" and then settings, and found that Plug and Charge was disabled (same as before). I then waited about 5 minutes (was reconfiguring other settings) and then decided to reboot (held the main volume **** down for 10-15 seconds until the screen turned off). System came back up, and then this time when I went into the Charging App settings, Plug and Charge was enabled! I then enabled it. Waited a few minutes, and then went to the My Porsche app on my phone and saw that I finally got the option to Request a Certificate.. and then requested it (with the option selected to install the certificate when it's received). Took a few minutes and then things looked good both in the car and in the app with regards to Plug and Charge. It looked installed.
Then as I was playing with the settings again, I could not find the Wifi connection settings (it's gone). It was there yesterday before the factory reset and gave me the option to connect my Macan to my home wifi network. But it's now no longer in the Connections settings menu. (Not sure what happened to it). I thought perhaps it was something to do with the Wifi Hotspot setting and so was mucking with that when CarPlay stopped working and I could not get it to work with my phone again. Ugh. So decided to Factory Reset again.
Afterwards, CarPlay is working, but the Wifi settings are gone still. I don't think I was imaging it...? I swear I connected it to my home network... Anyhow, decided to punt on that for now .. went back to Plug and Charge and again it's disabled, so I went through the same steps above (in this post) and again I was able to get the toggle to enable. But once doing so, the My Porsche app couldn't read the setting and wouldn't let me request the certificate. Mucked around for a bit and then noticed that the charge reading in the app vs what's shown in the Macan was off by 1-2% which meant the Macan was not syncing with the app. I think this is done via a cellular connection through Verizon built into the car. What it looks like is if this connection to Verizon is spotty, things don't work right. So I let it sit for a bit, and then finally it sync'd and I was able to request a certificate again and get it installed. I think I'm finally back.
So seems like a Verizon reception issue possibly?
I still can't find the Wifi menu though.. and my car's date/time isn't setting automatically (it's got the wrong time right now due to the factory reset). Perhaps I need to take the car out, not sure if it reads from GPS or not but maybe that's it? I'm not manually setting the date/time right now since I want to see it automatically change. Will have to drive it out later and see if it corrects itself.

Regarding the missing Wifi option, etc... might be due to the incorrect date/time. I'll need to go and get that resolved first or just give up and manually set it, and then try Wifi again.
EDIT: yes, it was due to the date/time. Drove the car out, the date/time immediately updated on its own, and then after rebooting, the Wifi option appeared again.

Just picked up mine today, have same issue. I have a taycan so familiar with how it should work and how to activate manually. Assume it’ll get sorted at some point…
Trip home was 300 miles including trip over grapevine, I stopped at a Chargepoint DC charger to give it a little bump but I may have been able to make it home on a full charge, the range is impressive and so is efficiency, quite a bit over my 2022 taycan.
Thanks Fresno Porsche!

This is now activated.
1. The dealer had to do something on their side
2. I did a handover/PCM reset
3. Kill the charge app
4. WAIT. it good a day for whatever certificate process there is
5. Go into My Porsche, and activate plug and charge under functions. It will say a certificate is ready to install. Install it. Takes a few minutes. then it will say certificate is installed. Ensure option is "on" on the car under charging.

Mine's still not working. Charging at EA (for free) via the app works fine.
I have an enabled Plug and Charge button in my Macan and it's enabled. I have an enabled Plug and Charge button in the app, and it's enabled. But underneath the button on the app, it says "to use plug and charge, select an available certificate under Manage certificates to install it." ... there is a Manage Certificates button there... I click on it and it says no certificate available, add a subscription... even though in another part of the app, it clearly shows I have an active subscription. I did speak with a customer support rep and he was scratching his head as it looks good from their end. Their systems show a certificate is installed and everything should be set up properly.
I will have to take it into the dealer.

My issue was, I had no "click to install..." it was timing out on the activate slider (like above pic). After I did a PCM reset and dealer re-provisioned or did something, the app now allowed me to install a certificate and it is working.
assume you've tried a full pcm reset?
My dealer sent me this video to try. My "Charging" app in the car has "Plug and Charge" grayed out, so I'd need to a reset of the car. Will try that later this week.

This is what my dealer sent: my slider for plug and charge was greyed out, and the app was getting the certificate error
a. ask dealer to check your car provisioning is setup for plug and charge, my dealer had to redo something on their end.
Go into the phone app and you should should see ability to install certificate. do that.
Then they sent me a document to do this:
1. settings on pcm
2. system
3. reset system to factory settings
4. ensure the vehicle time and location are accurate once it resets the PCM
5. check the plug and charge toggle
6. if greyed out still
7. click settings in pcm
8. apps
9. view all apps
10. click charging
11. force stop, ok
the slider should be ok
