Is it any wonder that even TORO has made enough advancements in their technology to beat the power-to-weight ratio of a '60s 912?

Sad to say even the Toro is a pushrod.

Great observation Kurt
Now that you mentioned it, aren't there model airplane motors that have better HP/weight ratios?

BTW wasn't a 912 (the late 60s one) motor the continuation of the revered 356?

Yes sir. Basically the same as the 356C motor. Many 356s are running around with 912 motors in them.

I moved from a '64 356C to a '67 912 in 1968, as my car while in college. Actually a great everyday (only) car. Of course, when I bought my first 911 in '69, I quickly forgot about the 912.
