Hmmm . . . then what would be on my trophy? Waiting for the witty (read, humorous) replies.

Believe me, Bob, I need the humor. I'm sweatin' our November track event -- we need a minimum of 45 drivers to cover the tab and we only have 21 so far (event is less than a month away -- Nov. 16th)! If we don't get more signups, it'll mean money out of my already rather empty pocket. So please, have at it. I need to laugh. BAD.

LOL. Dave, you are now my HWFMR hero. That is truly 15 minutes of fame. Good stuff. Now I guess I need to go do a search and find your explanation again of how you ended up there. Seems like it had something to do with a Mustang...

Hahaha! Thanks, Greg!! W00t!! Yes, I had moved from way back in the field all the way up to top 5 overall (I was in the slower ST class, and we also had the fast GS cars) when we got a FCY. On the restart, a Mustang in GS, who was behind me (and not in my class) driven by Tom Nastasi, made a bonehead passing move & bounced off a curb into me. He could have easily passed me on the following straight, since he had 150hp on me, but his judgement sucked. So he whacked me, and all sorts of hilarity ensued. My wheel broke, fender bent into tire, ABS failed (which I didn't know until braking for the next corner after getting going again, and front tires locked up all the way into the sand). Poetic justice: his race ended there with a broken ball joint. We only lost 5 laps making repairs, and finished pretty close to where we qualified!
Yeah, I definitely wanted to get out of there...
This picture was taken, I believe, during the FCY, and is in the exact spot where I went off in the video.

Hey, I have the ULTIMATE excuse: driver error. I was sofa king upset at being needlessly whacked by Mr. Nastasi, especially after having come from so far back in a low power car to so close to the front, that I failed to recognize the ABS failure until it was way too late.

"Well, I had no choice. You see, there was this slack-jawed mouth breather in front of me, holding me up and blocking me lap after lap. Actually, he may not have been intentionally blocking...it may just have been his erratic driving. Eventually, I had to knock his little buzz bomb BeeEmDubya into a spectator position, where that laggard should have been all along!".

The irony was, the little **** Nastasi (he is like 5'4" tall) wasn't man enough to come find me after the race to apologize, or even joke about it. I had to track HIM down, whereupon he grudgingly admitted that he ****ed up and misjudged the curb he hit. I told him he should have waited another 40' and passed me with horsepower.

Since there was a Mustang involved, it brings back a memory from long ago and far away when I was doing SCCA racing and did a few Trans-Am races in the under 2ltr class. There was a Mustang drover with the initials GF who had little liking or respect for the U-2 class. In one Drover Meeting, when we were asked for any questions we might have, his comment was "yeah, tell the 2 litre guys to stay out of my way or I will knock them out of my way", which brought the response "OK, that's it we are done". There were often some interesting paint schemes after those races.
