Default Where in Texas?

So I have this 996 that looks good and drives well. I have even had the car moving at some higher speeds but have issue with being on roads that are very public. I want more....!

So eventually I will get to a DE and take what the car can give me in the turns but what about top end speed? How does one get that in this state?

Texas is known for being flat and straight in many places. But where are they?

I want to take the car out on some run where the road is nearly flat and perfectly straight and perhaps 4-5 miles in length.
I want to find this place where it is farm land as far as the eye can see but where there are no homes or businesses. All I expect to see is the occasional vulture or rabbit.

There are places like this in other states, I've seen them on TV. This state should have something like this somewhere. Has anyone come across places like this?
The point is that if something happens then the only person around to get hurt is me. It isn't a death wish. It's an experiment. I will have people on either end of the run with radios to advise me on any rare appearance of cars but I don't expect to have any.

Thanks.

Yes, if you come to Austin & start at 715 W. 8th Street, you will have a clear shot, flat & open & fast, due west from there for about 4 miles. Give it a try!

Mmmm, cute. Could there be more law enforcement in that area?
Jail, Marshals, Academy, Police Assoc. Ranger, Secret Service....!

No really. Is there anywhere that can be found such that I won't see another living soul around?

Dude, if you are smart enough to know what is at the address I posted (headquarters of Austin Police DUHpartment), you are smart enough not to ask such a stupid question.

No offense rcronin but most everyone here believes in going to the track to wring out our cars.
I don't think you will find much support for doing it on the street no matter how barren the site is.

If going that fast in a straight line is your thing maybe you should try a drag strip with an alcohol fuel dragster.

If you must participate in such an activity, why not enter one of the several sanctioned events held each year? Not interesting to me so I can't recite them all, but I do recall one in Nevada held each year....public roads, Police participation in controlling the closing of the road, etc. If you want to do it on your own, cross the border and make the run in Mexico.

I believe you are thinking of the Silver State Classic, Bob. A quick Google search will render plenty of info on that one.

That is the one.

rcronin, why not organize such an event in West Texas, with the full participation of the State Police and a sanctioning body. The entry fees could have a portion going to an appropriate charity.......
