Default Driving Lights

So who makes the most durable and effective heavy-duty driving lights for additional mounts, with the exception of HID, which I can't afford. Hella? KC? Light Force? PIAA? Where can I find wiring instructions?

I have had excellent experience with Hella and PIAA over the years, most recently with PIAA. No experience with other brands.

As a moderator for this board, I have to step in and bring this under control.
We should not be discussing the need for driving lights here - that implies that someone is going fast and that is not in the HWFMR spirit.

We used Hella for a night enduro car and they worked pretty well.

I thought he was looking for help with his finishes being so late that darkness was setting in. Sorry!

Alas, I have been found out, and with such scorn....here in Alaska, the last person to cross the line in a sled dog race receives the "Red Lantern" award...a red kerosene lamp as previously used by the brakeman riding the caboose... I do not race sled dogs but I promise to paint my Hella lights red... They also say here that unless you're the lead dog, the view never changes. I find it most entertaining to watch HFWFM pilots from the very rear...

Der Mond, What ya doin' here? Don't go with PIAA. I took my Nissan From the dealer's lot right to the local sport truck superstore for PIAA's. What a mistake! Day one lost a headlight, day two lost a driving light. The shop replaced them and a week later I was down to one headlight and no driving lights. They replaced them again. Again I burned out a headlight and the shop said go away. PIAA sent me another set to the house that I put in myself and they didn't last a week. Do you see where I'm going with this. I got a PIAA rep to tell me "Please Go Away" on the phone and figured I was out of luck with that brand. I had a choice of bulbs this go round with the Porsche and went Sylvania with no problems...

Being an Iditarod fan and attendee from my days in the Seattle area (RIP Susan Butcher), I know what you mean. You can't have too much lighting "up there", even when driving at a Fairbanks pace!

Not anything like my experience with them on Land Rovers, etc. Could it be the shop that did the install? The car that was the recipient? The model of PIAA light? The moon at midnight? The Bossa Nova?

What the heck is going on here. HWFMR forum is now listed under Perf. & Comp? Now we have people coming in here asking about car & racing stuff. WTF is this world coming to?

Mike, looks like we kinda went mainstream since the demise of GR.

I think that in the spirit of this forum we should only give advice that makes one's car go slower, but only with the best of intentions.

I can help there Larry. I had to give a point-by to a (oh god do I have to say it) Corvette today.
