I didn't realize that you were attending the M-O race, although it was nice and quiet around here! Sounds like you had a couple of problems there, I'm sorry to hear. What's up with the "accident report form"? Was it on track? Charlie Boyer reported that it was a very "clean" race, with him only remembering the contact incident at the start of one of his Sprint Races, which he posted video of on the Racing Forum (spinning 914 mates with following 911).

Was GhettoWannaBe with you?
Nice and quiet? How can you say that... You were on line.

Met Charles, and David Hinkle both race board regulars and good guys.

The incident was during the practice starts and fun race. Had two terrific starts, followed by a good one on the 6 lap race. Going into the right at the end of the back straight (6, 7?) I was on the inside of the corner after losing a drag race (remember the part about the tgurbo bypass valve?) from the exit of the keyhole. I was giving the winner of the drag race a foot or two as we turned in, and watching my left mirror to see if any of the other traffic was going to make a run on me on the outside. I hear and feel a thump, the tail kicks left, look in the mirror and see nothing orange and white. I had been bumped by a GT4 car that was late to the grid and started in back.

I reported to the black flag station. Had to fill out the form. I figured I was clear, since i was rear ended (actually rear tired). The orange and white car had gone off, due to traffic. Basically no damage to my car other than a few scrapes, some fiberglass damage to the other car due to his going off. It was judged a racing incident. No 13s.

I thought a very good decision on the stewards part.

Ghetto was no where to be seen. Maybe he was racing at another track.

But man I like that track

MO is a lot nicer now that it has been repaved and the curbs re-done.

this was my first time there, and I loved it. That back half of the course is a hoot.
As if the esses and turn 5 at Atlanta went on for a mile.

You can use lots of curbs. I understand that wasn't always true.

Yeah, you used to pretty much have to avoid the curbs, except for the track out curbs at the Keyhole, IIRC. Now you can use most of them as necessary. The one you absolutely NEVER wanna touch, of course, is the curb at T1 that separates the apex from pit out...

I can personally tell you that if you do get into the inside curb at T1.......the grass on the outside of the turn and up towards the Key Hole seems to go on forever, at least it seems a long time while using the mirror to drive out the back window!

Sounds like you had a good time inspite of the mechanical probs.

Glad to hear that you only suffered minor damage, Mike! I've fortunately never had to fill out an accident form. The one time I had my little punting expedition at PIR was taken care of by the car owner. Other than that one indicent, I've been clean. Phew! Here's to hoping everyone here on the forum stays on the track and we all keep the door kisses and tire swirlies to a minimum.

Lol I think that curb isn't as bad as it once had been. I touched it a couple of times, and saw a few others hit. (And don't say it -- I don't think I was that slow. Even without the high rpm turbo boost, Iwas only 3 seconds off the top E qualifier)

Had a great time. Just wish the car had been competitive.

"Slow"??? I would never had mentioned a thing about that!

The reality is that you were likely not so far off line that at turn-in a little voice said "this ain't gonna work", then as you tried to make something of it things just got worse. I had a friend riding with me, who after mowing the grass backwards for quite a while, became nervous as I went for first gear and started for the track (we almost needed navigation to find it) all in one move with getting the car stopped, and he yelled "Wait! Calm yourself". I calmly told him to take some deep breaths and that he should realize that the experience was not new to me. He hasn't asked for a ride since, and didn't even help clear the turf from the sway bars!

Glad to hear you had a good time!

Soon, we will hear about GhettoWannaBe's race weekend, I'm sure.

Negative, ghostrider. The pattern is full.

Only HK, Glock, FN, Bushmaster, Remington, and Sako in this household!
