Porsche Wins Daytona 24 Hours
The Porsche / Penske Team #7 963 crossed the finish line 2.112 seconds ahead of the faster Cadillac to win their first Daytona 24 since 2010. An Acura will take the podium for third. The second #6 Penske/Porsche was 4th, with the Proton & JDC independent 963 teams right behind at fifth & sixth.
In GTD Pro, the 911 GT3R was a lap behind a great Ferrari car. The best we could do in GTD was seventh.
Great endurance racing ! Of you have not followed or watched IMSA or WEC at all, you are missing the best road racing available; all respect for F1 & Indy.

Congrats to the Porsche/Penske team! Cool car, the 963. Does it have a kinetic energy recovery device? The article I read said nothing about a KERS.

Advanced
I am not sure of exactly what kind of a hybrid system it has, but all LMDh prototypes (and LMH for the World Endurance Championship series) have a regenerative braking system, as well as an electric motor and a small battery. The electric motor plus the ICE motor give it a total of 500 KW of power (~670 HP).
I am pretty happy for the overall win, but am pretty pissed about the GTDs. IMSA messed with the Balance of Performance metrics and really hamstrung the 911s. The pro car was 1.2 seconds per lap slower than the Ferraris, Mercs, and the Bimmers. After every restart, those GTDs would just walk away. It was insane.
