986 Enduro Build (help/advice)
Hey what’s going on? Sorry if there is already a thread about this. I did a quick look and didn’t find it.
I have 2004 Boxster, fresh off the lot, that I’m working on building for Champ Car next season. I have never done a build before and my first step is to get it caged. What prep work do I need to do before I take it to the shop? What items don’t necessarily need to be removed?
Also, if you have any advice regarding a build for enduro races, feel free to share!
Thanks in advance!

There might be a thread. You are better off posting in the Spec Boxster forum.
However, in order to prepare the car for a cage all the interior needs to be removed. Anything potentially flammable, anything that may prevent the fabricator from accessing mounting points or making the full welds, and anything that you don't want damaged. You can leave a few things in, such as the steering column in order to maneuver the car. That said, the shop may end up needing to remove the column in order to correctly install a cage. The windshield ideally should be removed. It would likely impede access to making full welds, and will also get pitted or shatter from welding sparks.
For endurance, it's all about driver comfort (and safety of course) and mechanical reliability.
