update: Track App update issue resolved

I've been one of the biggest critics of the track app. I have to admit, the newest version actually seems to work well. I still wouldn't pay $1800 for it, but I thinks its a nice free feature in the 991.2 GT3 now.

A few questions ( If I may since I am so technically challenged )
What camera are you using and how does that interface with the app ?
(i.e. can I use my gopro ) ( I also have an iPhone but I dont know if I have enough memory left
2nd do I need some kind of GPS device for this set up ?
Thanks in advance Joe

The track app works in conjunction with your smart phone using a wifi connection. The phone records the video (iphone 5S in this case). It uses your phone GPS, but if you want something more accurate you can buy an external GPS. You can also use gopro video, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet
I am guessing that will go pretty fast and have to be downloaded after each session if I am carring around 6K pictures
And I am not using the cloud ( cheap Bas#$%&)
I guess the gopro will be on its own...
Thanks Joe !!

This would probably be a good point to direct back to FergusH's videos for people wanting the Porsche missing tutorial:
1) Setting up Porsche Track Precision:
2) Viewing a Session with Porsche Track Precision:
3) Exporting and viewing data from Porsche Track Precision:
While these were based upon a slightly earlier version of PTPA, where new bugs or features have been added, they probably remain a good place to begin.
Please feel free to reach out as I have used most versions of the PTPA over the past year+ and happy to help where possible.

Thanks very much !!
I know Fergus was very knowledge on this platform...
Maybe I shouldn't have waited until 3 days before a track event to learn this
best regards

Since this has been a recent thread I am coping a quick take from the longer version posted in the Data Acquisition and Analysis for Racing and DE section of Rennlist...
Version 2.0.2 has been released. Version notes from iTunes are listed below. I can confirm that VBO data exports have been fixed both in standard data VBO form and VBO+Video. I have not yet tried the external video source import / export features nor gone through the whole app yet but VBO being fixed with video working is an appreciated big step (see below from my iPhone, GT4, and VBOX Sport).
What's New in Version 2.0.2
• VBO Export fixed
• The GPS source is now set automatically to avoid errors
• Improved video synchronization for multiple recordings
• Support for the new 911 GT3 (2017) and customized design
• Some improvements and bugfixes
More of my notes may be found at link: https://rennlist.com/forums/data-acq...l#post14107285

Another release...that's one in March and one in April. Maybe they are listening to users!
I updated to the latest and did a quick check to see if prior data was there and it appears to be fine.

Finally, this is looking promising... it's about damn time.
Glad I hung on to my old iPhone 5s...
Does the car itself need any software updates before use, or are all updates in the phone App?

Mine is a 4/16 build, and seems to work fine. I have not read/heard of anyone getting an update to the car. Maybe there is a way to check the car's wifi version or something like that...
