Car won't start....stranded.....help appreciated.
Cross post...Long story short- stuck at a restaurant an hour away from home. Car will not start- dash says press clutch pedal. Clutch is fully depressed. I'm guessing a bad clutch interlock switch? Car has 300 miles and will have to be towed to the dealer.
Any ideas how to fix this without having to tow? I can't find any switch under the pedal lever. Not sure if changed the design.

There was a procedure I've read that worked in other Porsches with a manual transmission : in order to override the clutch safety switch, you'd press the clutch all the way to the floor and hold the key in the start position. Nothing would happen in the beginning, but after 30 seconds or more, the car would start right up. Try that.

Thanks - unfortunately didn't work.

Do you have anything that looks like this? The yellow arrow is pointing to the microswitch that would prevent the car from starting if the clutch is not fully depressed. The other one sits on the clutch pedal as well, but it's for cruise control.

Most likely it's the clutch pedal switch. I've had two of them replaced under warranty in my 987's. My advice: try pushing the clutch pedal firmly to the floor. You might have to stomp on it to get it to work.

i just checked and however they have the switch its not visible.
Try bump-starting it. Get it rolling with the key on and put it in second and pop the clutch it may work. The switch probably only controls the starter motor and not the ignition. carl

Thanks for all the thoughts....
Searched high and low. Could not find a switch - there is really nothing attached to the pedal lever that I could see. If they are going to make faulty switch, you'd think they'd at least make it accessible.
I tried two different keys. No luck. All functions of the car and key otherwise work. Tried finessing the clutch, slamming the clutch. All hard against the firewall. No carpet was bunched up that I could see under the clutch. Tried starting with parking brake on and off, in gear and out. I didn't have a chance to pull the battery cable before the tow guy arrived.
The way I had it parked, there was no way to try bump starting it.
It was moderately stressful getting the car on the flatbed. Thankfully no scrapes.
Not fun.

I'm very sorry to hear this - hopefully Porsche is, too. I had a breakdown experience when I initially got my (used) 993, which soured me on the car slightly until I gained more confidence in it being dependable, and I "forgave" it after a while. I'm sure this will just be a minor "speed bump" for you...leaving no figurative front lip scrapes.

Stuff happens. Nothing is perfect. I'm sure this is just a fluke. That said, I was/am planning on taking the car 5 hours out of town this weekend, so this has spooked me a little.
