GT4 Future value
I was having a chat with a friend of mine today who also has a GT4 and as the market seems to have become more and more unpredictable I'm curious to see what the consensus on future GT4 values will be now that the allocations have been handed out (according to my dealer at least, this is it for the 981.1 GT4 production)
A lot I think will depend on what the 981.2 GT4 will look like, and how big the 'buzz' on the GT4 is (if any) in a few years
My friend is of the opinion that the GT4 will appreciate a little bit in a few years because of the limited numbers, whereas I'm of the opinion it will be similar to a GT3 in depreciation rate, so not as fast as a non GT car.

It will not appreciate.. in the end, it's still little brother and will never have the trophy appeal of a 911 gt variant.
-Now I certainly hope that I'm wrong, lol.. but the fact of the matter is that once they announce the next gen gt4, regardless if NA or FI, will drop the value of the current 981.1.
Porsche has great marketing dept

This is just my 0.02, but to me it seems there will be a lot of GT4's produced and this will reduce the demand over the next few years. I was able to get a build allocation for GT4's @ 4 dealers and was about to pull the trigger until I received my 16' GT3 allocation. There is a huge bubble that is bound to burst...I hope I am wrong
As someone who paid a premium I'd say I think it will be below sadly. But we shall see. I think mainly because of the above reasons plus the economy is a but over exuberant right now. Once these startups based on slide decks start failing we should see some GT4s with low miles popping up everywhere.
Also are there any other past boxster or Cayman models appreciating?

The P-car bubble is pretty crazy...
That being said, if this is latest batch of allocations is indeed "all she wrote". Then I would see prices holding strong as there appears to still be a large number still on waiting lists. If they build past June (July is latest delivery date I have seen) then it is anybody's guess.
If the P-car bubble pops I think everyone will get nailed...911 owners included.

The gt4 will appreciate. But it will take 20-30 years and you have to bubble wrap it. I would never buy cars as investments. If they go up, great. If not, I had fun! These are toys and should be driven.
A couple of facts (do your homework fellas) will result in a slow depreciation over the next few years.
1. After the June production run ends that is is for the 981.1 version
2. Though more allocations were made available there are still plenty of people on waiting lists
3. There will be no GT4 for at least the following year.
4. Porsche will never make enough GT cars to meet all the market demand
5. It's a milestone GT car that stands out from it's Cayman stablemates and is thus well poised for the future
