GT4 clutch.

I've had lots of cars including 993 C2, 997.1 C2, and 997.2 GTS. This clutch is easy. In fact, I'd say it's damn near perfect. Not Civic easy, and not Shelby heavy. It's great, and to take it a step further, the car as a whole is incredibly liveable as a DD. I have to agree, that MT reviewer is a real p***y.

I was able to sit in a GT4 at Porsche Experience Center Atlanta and operate the clutch. It felt the same as a 987 Cayman S that I drove at my local dealer. It is a little heavier than my previous 987 Base cayman. As others have said: no big deal.

I just got my GT4 and I also own a 981 Boxster S with manual transmission. Clutch effort is very close to my 981 Boxster or perhaps just a tad heavier but I really have a hard time telling the difference between them. It just feels right and not heavy at all and shifter is much nicer. Not sure what this guy was talking about, as it feels lighter than most manual cars I have ever driven. Perhaps he has a defective clutch pedal. Mark

For a performance car I think the clutch is on the lighter side, if anything, but would agree with others who call it perfect. The 997.2 GT3 is much, much heavier. The 987.1 Cayman S is lighter.

When I first got my GT4 few months back I felt the clutch was too stiff. Now that I drove it for 4000km I feel it's just right. Also the gearbox is much better now than when very new I think it needs time to run in.

Based on my seating position, in order for my right foot to be positioned well for the brake/accelerator, my left foot needs a full extension to get the clutch pedal fully pressed. With a stiffer soled shoe, that's quite easy. But when I tried it with my lighter/softer soled Pumas or driving shoes, the foot does feel the extra heft (at least for now till it get's more of a workout ).

I'm more familiar with BMW clutches, so for the first few days, the GT4 felt heavy. Now it doesn't feel heavy at all, except when sitting in traffic. That being said, I used to always be in 1st and the clutch in at stop lights. Now I sometimes go into neutral. So I guess that means my leg still finds it a bit heavier than it's used to.

Pure bullsh-t the clutch is no big deal. I had 2 981Cs's MT's the the GT4's clutch is a little heaver but-not much. Does anybody know the diameter of the 981 CS clutch? The GT4's is 240mm. Hope is bigger than the 3.4s. carl

My Dad's 1984 Datsun Cherry had a clutch about twice as heavy as the GT4's and I never remember anyone thinking he was iron man. I remember thinking that clutch was perfect.
If I drove that car now (had it not rusted into the earth) I'd probably find it too heavy. When did we all become so soft?
