Default Harness bar - half cage

Anybody in the US have a harness bar - half cage that is reasonably priced (not including install)? Seems that in Germany one can get those starting at around $475 and up depending on options selected:

Wiechers - $475

Heigo - $725

It seems like over here pricing starts at $2300 and goes up from there and most that are called harness bar are actually half cages.

I realize that its a supply and demand issue, but every manufacturer faces that with a product.

We market what you are looking for and maybe if there was a group buy we could get the pricing down some? We sell a bar powdercoated for the 981 that bolts right in via a 4-point design. We sell it to shops for $1995 and we also sell it raw if you wanted it raw. There is a link attached here - http://www.teambgb.com/category-s/122.htm

Thanks.

John

BGB, do you think there will be a fitment issue as we are hearing that there is the slightest bit of difference in the rear design of the GT4...guess we wont know till we have a donor car to try it on?

I will not be able to tell you with 100% certainty for another 2 - 3 months but I will be installing 1 the moment our car arrives. I am fairly certain that given how our bar attaches, that these parts of the car have NOT changed. I realize that the GT4 unibody has been modified but not where our bar attaches.

FYI-- I bought a Heigo bar for my 987 Cayman. By the time I was finished with all the optional bits and pieces, plus powder coating and shipping, it ended up costing me north of $2,000. I will happily write a check to BGB for $2,000, or more, to get their bar once my GT4 arrives.

Very much in on this part once we have full confirmation that its a drop in effort with little to no extra fabrication needed. And very happy to support BGB given all that they have done for this community. Porsche has neglected us in the US market due to lame regulations. Thankfully BGB is looking to service a need for a small number of customers that want to have a good solution. Its not like BGB is going to sell 15000 of these, we need to support them.

Hi Bob,

Sorry about that. I went to reply to the PM and it said that it would not let me. I apologize.

Interestingly enough the one for the 987 costs more. Which version did you get and from where? Pics?

I bought a Heigo. Made in and imported from Germany. I then had it powder coated in white. Final cost was closer to $3K than $2K. Frankly, when my GT4 arrives I am planning to get my new bar from John at BGB. I have lots of respect for their work. And John has been extremely forthcoming with his advice to all of us on the forums. If he can figure out a way to resurrect the power that was lost on the intake side of the engine then he'll get that business from me too. It's pretty cool that he is getting a GT4.

Understand thats why I listed 2 German companies in my original post. Where did you get yours from?

Both have an option for different color but I didn't include that in my listed price since I wanted to do an apples to apples comparison. As well as the fact that I could probably get it done cheaper if I wanted to.

Thanx. Looks a little different from your pic. Found the one I linked in my first post and appears to be $1+k (incl S&H) more than in Germany; i.e. similar in pricing to yours with options. Looked on the Heigo site and found the one in your pic. They have it at almost double the price to the one I linked.

Looks like I will continue to look for options to import. Have a hard time understanding the increased profit margin on the 981 compared to your 987.
