718 GT4?

I think for a lot of us re: prices, we are concerned about what happens to availability and affordability if the 981 is "the last of the N/A motors" or the 991.2 is the last one on the GT3 front. Surely, the people who always chase the next best thing will move onto the next car but that is only a small percentage and doesn't mean that prices will stay sane if there's an extra 30 cars on the market in the short term. I think people compare to the air cooled 911 and the 911R and think that prices might go haywire where a 991.2 GT3 will trade for 400k in 3-4 years. For a lot of people, tacking on +50% makes the car unreasonable when you can look at any number of other cars in the 300k range or the 150k range in the case of the GT4 (like a 991.1 GT3).
I guess the point that was made is, in the short term, prices might go up, but they will level off and/or come down because the cars we are looking at aren't produced in small numbers at this point compared to something like a 911R.

About the cost of the GT3 engine being a lot more expensive due to "expensive internals". This higher price is because of the selling price, not the manufacture cost. Its sold at a much higher price because it can.
Take the Titanium con rods. So the regular ones are likely machined from a billet of forged Aluminium ( I cant confirm that is actually the case BTW) but if you replaced that with a billet of forged Titanium the extra cost is nothing significant.
Forged Al billet is about $25 -$30 / kg, forged Ti billet is only about $25-$50 / kg. Ti machining time is a bit longer..
Re qualifying new parts and feeding that though R&D for the sake of one special run seems to me, that may cost more than to just use the same proven parts with no new manufacturing risks.
Its about marketing, not reality. Pretty sure only the external bolt on's from the parts bin will be different. With a software tune for other factors than power.

No, I suspect some one disagreed with him and put forward some fact based responses
This seems to upset some people e.g. GT3 E and F engines are still letting go as are the 3rd gears in GT4s. Unfortunately these statements are correct.
I know I tried to switch this guy off along with four or five others as they invaded just about every turbocharged thread with opinions based on very little - they caused multiple 3l tt threads to be closed down.
The same occurred on other sites when the 718 was released.
As an owner of both turbocharged and NA Porsches, I simply want these guys to go away - its always the same - I test drove this that and the other.....blah throttle response......blah lag etc.....despite the fact that owners actually point out this is not the case and in some cases have presented literally thousands of logged data points demonstrating that this is not the case.
I have always found its better to deal in truth and facts rather than supposition and polemics. Unfortunately, a minority on here can't deal with it.
Shame really
I would take a 6cyl turbo/NA GT4 - I won't take a 4cyl turbo/NA simply because it wont be good with lots of track duty.

What does well above their lows mean? 50%? 20%? Do you have a reference on values? I'm new and would appreciate tracking historical changes if there's a reference so I can at least get on the used GT4 market at the right time rather than wait for the possible turbo only to see prices rise.

Now, try finding a 2007.2008 997 GT3 non RS with low mileage for $60-$70s. They are $80-100k.
When the 2011 997RS 4.0L was announced as the last of the Mezgers, the market started to really shift upward on all Mezger cars.
The fact that the 991 GT3 was not to be a "motorsport" derived engine, has 4 wheel steering and no manual was the reason the 997 GT3 become somewhat more desireable to collectors and drivers.
The 981 GT4 market is still doing well, but as soon as a 718 replacement is announced you will typically see the prices become more flexable, especially if the next GT4 is 6 cyl.
If the 718 GT4 is a turbo, then expect to see the 981 GT4 values not to really change until they get closer to end of warranty period.
The economy and free trade tarriffs could also be a factor on the future of german car market.... So keep your eye on that too.

Aaaaaaargh, a 4 cylinder turbo?!
I am going to end up paying a stupid over MSRP price for a 991.2 GT3 if the GT4 is a 4 banger.
If anybody at Porsche is watching, listen to this recording of the RSR one hundred times!! Best sounding car on track now by a huge margin. At least keep the GT cars naturally aspirated!

Three Wheelin'
On the Sebring 12h Imsa live feed you could choose cockpit cams from different cars. Porsche RSR sounded best from inside, and BY FAR
