so is the 718 GT4 confirmed to be revealed at Geneva?

Not seeing it on the docket from auto mag previews.

These are confusing times. I've never seen a production spec Porsche spotted in the wild a year before launch so you'd bet on it being at Geneva.

But the new 991.2 RS will be shown there in the flesh for the first time. Two GT cars at once would be....new.

Not to mention they've always maintained that they are very limited on production capacity and making both the RS and GT4 at once would seem difficult. They don't even build GT3 and GT3 RS alongside each other.

I have a slot to talk to Preuninger for 20 mins at Geneva anyway, should be interesting.

PS I really don't like the exhaust configuration on that spied GT4.

Isn't the GT4 produced on the standard Cayman manufacturing line, and not 'in house' at Porsche GT division ala GT3, RS, etc...? Therefore not subject to the volume restraints of the other GT cars?

Sort of, but I remember Preuninger talking about how hard it was to do the GT4 last time around with so many low volume parts like the carbon buckets that they ran into trouble with. Also, back then the GT4 was using a regular Carrera S engine which they were making plenty of. GT engine manufacturing would have to go a lot quicker than it ever has if the new car shares the 4.0 unit.

If we end up getting fooled and the new car has a 400 horsepower H4 turbo then that's another thing obviously.

Last time they introduced the 981 GT4 and 991 GT3RS at Geneva so I am hoping for the same outcome this year.

The 981 GT4 and .1 RS were announced together.

Wow, I completely mis-remembered that then. Too many car shows over too many years I guess!

Bad news for me. I've almost mastered 50% of the current car. I might have to revert back to the 25% stage again

This time they took a Spyder out for lunch with a pair of turbo 3.0.l 911s (992s).... no 4.0l cars to be in sight. They must not be able to take GT3s out for lunch

Or they need a gaggle of other forced induction 911's to mask the easily identifiable turbo flat 4 sounds... it's like camo for exhausts noises Who knows...
